Phil Liggett is positively garrulous, after a few bottles of wine.

    Garrulous, it's not loquacious.

i read this sentence and laughed because i had no idea what it meant:
"Diminution drains this office of the sacerdotal pomposities that have encrusted it."

link to the use (apologies, it's a political article)

The whole paragraph is sufficiently wordy to cause my feeble brain to implode...

Will is urging the nation to take the punishment that is coming as a penance for civic sins. “For now, worse is better,” he wrote. “Diminution drains this office of the sacerdotal pomposities that have encrusted it. There will be 42 more months of this president’s increasingly hilarious-beyond-satire apotheosis of himself, leavened by his incessant whining about his tribulations (‘What dunce saddled me with this silly attorney general who takes my policy expostulations seriously?’). This protracted learning experience, which the public chose to have and which should not be truncated, might whet the public’s appetite for an adult president confident enough to wince at, and disdain, the adoration of his most comically groveling hirelings.”

cognoscenti [kon-yuh-shen-tee, kog-nuh-] plural noun, singular cognoscente

    1. persons who have superior knowledge and understanding of a particular field, especially in the fine arts, literature, and world of fashion.

inspired by our ongoing thread on lighten up stud, I thought I'd give this one a little life, even if it's a word many know.
    example sentence:

As the cognoscenti pounded away on their keyboards, laying waste to the abomination of the heretical zero-setback seatpost, those among the rabble, clad with mail-order bibless shorts in colors of last year and discount store ankle socks (sans compression, alas!), murmured, "why are these guys so grumpy?"

"dendrite" - branched, arborescent extension of a neuron; so named for its tree-like structure. From the Greek δενδρίτης, meaning of or pertaining to a tree.

The dentrites clearly visible on Abdoujaparov's legs were a not so subtle indication of the source of his cycling prowess.

"The U.S. government’s role in the steady destabilization of El Salvador is not only directly pertinent to the question of Abrams’ suitability for his role, it is the subtext to a familiar piece of agitprop. Trump loves to stoke fear about immigrants, including many Salvadorans, who cross the southern border. Not only are the vast majority peaceful, they’re fleeing a violent political climate that we helped create."

    ag·it·prop
    /ˈajətˌpräp/
    noun: agitprop; noun: agit-prop

"political (originally communist) propaganda, especially in art or literature."

i don't know why i'm reading that publication's site, but i'm impressed by their big little word.
