bang around quartz = G-Shock imho.

    P.S. Hint Hint - you're not gonna "smash" a Seiko SKX007 ;-)

My first "real" watch in high-school was a Seiko automatic, and I've always liked the brand.

How long can these models go between windings?

I have a monster, which I think is the same movement and I get about a day and a half, maybe a little more, before I need to put it back on to wind it.

Thanks guys. I just found 007s on Amazon for $150 (I assume grey-market) I may give it a shot.

That's pretty close to the going rate for the "K" variant. Fantastic timepieces, we just dressed one up with a Murphy Bezel - great little piece.

Jason, thanks for the recommendation - I decided to pull the trigger and got it.

It'll be interesting to see how accurate it will be - you get so spoiled with quartz. I'll be happy if it's less than 15 secs / day. which for me would end up meaning a re-set every two weeks or so.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's better than that. Honestly, with my auto, I find that I'll forget to wind it, and not wear it, and therefore need to set it before it tracks too far out of time. I love the seiko 007s and have nearly picked one up... but there's only so many timepieces I can wear...

    Welcome to the darkside :-)

Its kind of a crapshoot regarding 7S26 accuracy...some of them are dead-nuts on the money (my wife has a 7S26 based field watch that runs 2 seconds a month fast) while others may be out by 15 seconds/day. They do take well to being regulated by a watchmaker if its bothersome.

Honestly though, no one used to be a bigger stickler for accuracy than me (trust me on this), but these days I set my watch 1 min fast at the beginning of the month and yeah it may be a few seconds slow by the end of the month buts it's all good.

My SKX007 (purchased from Mr. Musgrave) runs +- 5 seconds and has for the last couple of years. Love that watch. Put it on a Maratac nato strap and you'll do better than Sinatra.

+1. Every auto I have owned for the last 8 years has been on a nato strap.

Since we're talking 007s......here's my Yao, purchased not long after Bill started doing them.

Eat one live toad first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you all day.

Nah. A bike. A Chunder or Kwiato Tarmac.

The only reason I've held onto it this long is because I wore it when we got married. I love it. But I don't love how I got it. It bothers me every time I put it on. Nothing crazy, just personal deal. Nothing illegal or immoral.

I hear ya. You shouldn't have much problem selling it. The PO is an awesome watch. And there are plenty of other awesome watches out there that will have better memories.

Beside bikes, I have thing for Omega's and NASA/astronaut associated watches. Besides the obvious pre-moon Omega Speedmaster which ticks both boxes, one of my other favorites just got back from an overhaul:

1963 Bulova Accutron Astronaut GMT (electronic tuning fork movement... the bridge between mechanical movements and quartz movements)

Astronaut Scott Carpenter wearing the same watch oh some much cooler than I can....

BTW, "Tiercé" is the trifecta in horse-racing, not a prediction of future scandals in the TDF.
