Yep! A four year old belting out this song too is a great memory. Both kids have thrived in our high school choir programs, not sure it played a role, but music in our house, car, etc is ubiquitous. That and public radio news…

I suspect this will completely obliterate any Taste credibility I might have here, but screw it: For inexplicable reasons I've been revisiting the 1973 Yes album Tales From Topographic Oceans
...albeit, one tune per day. (Unlike when I was a wee teen and could sit through marathon double-album listening sessions with impunity.)

It still holds up, if you're patient. Especially the first two sides.

^^^ no judgment here. I'd like to think you have a Rick Wakeman-esque cape hiding in the back of your closet.

LOL! No capes, sorry...but in a recent discussion on another internet forum regarding prog-rock wardrobe, it turned out that all of us participating in the conversation had at one time or another owned a kimono, a gi, or some other traditional Japanese robe, that we wore as part of our stage apparel! In my case it was the robe that my Dad stole from a chef at a Benihana restaurant circa 1970. :)

    Hey, it’s American Thanksgiving.

Which means only two things….Alice’s Restaurant followed by watching/listening to The Last Waltz.

    The.Greatest. Concert. Ever.

And, I can’t think of another rock film or concert that has a poet (and a great Beat poet at that) reciting Chaucer.

The Last Waltz is indeed amazing.
Sure was one of Dylan’s weirder periods though.

Just about now I think the answer for a lot of people will be "Fleetwood Mac."

"Tusk" is one of those albums.

I've been listening to Fleetwood Mac all of my life, but I did not like Tusk (the song) until just a couple of years ago. Not sure what changed in me--perhaps my opinion of USC has mellowed.

I started my daughter’s playlist just before she turned 1. She’s chosen every song. Her first favorite was Fugazi's Waiting Room, her second, The Ledge from Tusk. According to Spotify in 2016, I listened to The Ledge over 200x.

I added Everywhere a few minutes after this Chevy commercial came on during a UCLA football game. “Daddy, add it to my playlist!”

Thanks for this. Brings back a flood of powerful memories from some wasted, but interesting years (perhaps not entirely wasted, they all add up, don't they?). Royal Scam, for me, was one of the few near perfect albums. Nothing could be, or should be taken out. And it should be played front to back, no hopping around. Great to see all this talent together.

I'd never heard this tune before -- and to be honest, I'm not sure I'd ever heard anything by Cake (although the singer's voice does sound vaguely familiar, so if it came on the FM in my car sometime in the mid 1990s it's plausible and I've simply forgotten) -- but the missus and I have been binge-watching ER in chronological order starting at Season 1 Episode 1, and this ditty shows up in Season 8:

So now I'm listening to it again.

We saw Tar over the weekend.

And so, like everyone else who’s seen it, we’ve been listening to Elgar’s cello concerto and Mahler’s 5th.

I don't know what version they used in the movie, but Jacqueline du Pré is the cellist for the Elgar. There is a higher fidelity version out there, but here's the YT version.
