Large diurnal temp range on the east side. 90s/40s in Bishop when I was there a couple weeks ago, but the high country is below freezing at night now. The Inyo NF is open but keep an eye on the smoke forecast from the fires in Sequoia, it can get bad quickly with the right wind. You'd need wilderness permits to get into evolution valley.
Congrats RW.
Nice snap, too.

Beautiful picture.
Portland, ME is what I had guessed for that. Seemed like the right mix of waterfront with larger buildings in the background, some on the small hill not too far away. My sister lived there for a few years, and now she's about an hour up the coast, so I've been there several times.
I've always found ME to be super-picturesque, but the roadie in me never really found anything that I fell in love with - the roads (or at least the ones I saw in our various wanderings) were generally in not-so-great condition, with no shoulder and a fair amount of traffic. I guess if I were going to be spending a lot of time there and wanted to ride I'd have to get the inside scoop from local riders.

Dead northern short-tailed shrew. Beneficial predators of invertebrates and mice. Has a venomous bite and a putrid musk it emits when attacked, to which ammals are susceptible. A fox may have caught this shrew, gave it a chomp and then realized their mistake. Hard way to teach your enemy a lesson.
We've been leaving the deer skull and antlers out on the hill where the deer died, because it was interesting to watch the process. This was how my wife originally found it.
