Just ordered a pair of these after months of deliberation.

Goodyear welted, full grain leather and USA made for $179 and come in wide sizes with LLBean customer service.

With these looking this good, in my opinion, and with the pricing, I couldn't justify a pair of Red Wings or Danners.

I will find out if I made the right decision soon enough.

Well, I made the rounds in NYC, mostly in the Madison Ave area, was not able to get to SoHo or the Village, I guess that is where some of the nicer boutiques are located, anyway, I'm pretty focused on a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers, just learned that they make a few of the colors in a EE width. Since I use an orthotic in my shoes I need the extra width, so they might work out...Thanks for the suggestions.

Russell Moccasin, out of Berlin WI, are well worth checking out for all kinds of boots and shoes. Mine are most comfortable.

I took a gamble on some boots that didn't look too great in the picture but turned out looking great.



They are listed as a 5" roofing boot without steel toe. Small Canadian company that makes generic crappy looking work boots has them made in Mexico. The picture shoes a version that must have the steel toe as mine don't look like that.

$109CAD for a goodyear welted boot not made in China. I need to take a picture of them on my feet as they look way better. My girl even like them says they look great with dark jeans and a nice shirt. I think she is stoked I am not wearing my old beat to crap Blundstones any more.

They said it wouldn't work, but I just had my old beat to crap Blundstones successfully re-soled. They were the last of the Made-in-Australia boots, so I figured I owed them another chance before throwing in the trash. Hit "like" if anyone wants photos and contact info.

Soles on my Blundstones held up fine.

The leather on the toes has been destroyed. But in fairness I've beat on them.

Not sure how the leather on these were treated from the factory, they had a sheen to them when I got them and any scratches just seemed to remove that outer sheen and no matter what I treated them with the scratches would show. After that point I started not caring and used them as work boots. Worn them to shingle the roof on our house, that really really put a beating on the toes with shredding the leather.

The good thing about Danners is that for the models that can be re-soled, they do it themselves.

Don't own either, but have tried on both. Assume you are talking about the 1000M that is similar to the Beckman.

The Beckman is narrower, and the part on the side where the two pieces of leather join really cut into my foot. I'd buy the beckman if it came in an E, but it doesn't. I do tend to be a D in most things though. The 1000M were true to size and width, but I went with some Aldens instead. Said Aldens fell apart. YMMV.
