Tame Impala's new album. I like all his previous albums, and I didn't think I would like this one - very poppy but it is well crafted and filled with hooks. I am a sucker.

    Happy sad trippy funk.

Also Beth Gibbons (lead singer of Portishead) singing work by Henryk Gorecki. In Polish. Amazing.

Though I am known to like and post up here a fair amount of far out pop, jazz, and alt country, I am actually as much a classical guy as anything else. Probably 50% actually. Mozart is OG.

If you've seen Amadeus, this is the piece that enraptures Salieri so much in the scene that won that dude an Oscar.

    Been enjoying this one lately.

    My grandpa was a preacher
    The Pentecostal kind
And they take the Lord so seriously
you'd think they'd lost their minds
They pray out loud, speak in tongues
    Some might take up snakes
But my grandpa was a working man
And he never took a break
Hail to the working man like pop
Never saw him drink a drop
He knew what I was up to,
but he never called the cops
Hail to the Working Man on high
Give us plenty fish to fry
He might judge you but He'll never make you stop

I watched Stop Making Sense last night, which I try to do every couple of years. It's absolutely great, and never gets old (well, maybe Tina's shoulder pads.)

It got me thinking about seeing them at Masonic Hall in Detroit in 1980. It was a transcendent night, one of the best shows I've ever seen. And lo and behold, there's a tape:

Crosseyed and Painless is when I levitated. Seriously, my friends and I spent the last 30 minutes dancing in the center aisle. Byrne's comment about the dancing was our invitation. God it was amazing.
    GO!

John is suffering from Covid-19 and is in the ICU. Tree of Forgiveness is a great album. It strikes me as a man making peace with mortality. I hope he pulls through.

    If dreams were lightning
    Thunder was desire
This old house it would've burned down

These lyrics are above a beautiful view of the Columbia River from the Washington state side at White Salmon.
    Everybody's Brewing Restaurant Pub.
Amazing place, amazing view, and more amazing to spot this above the windows over that view.
Stop by, request "Angel from Montgomery" and have a good meal and great beer once we're able to socialize in closer space.

I too watch Stop M.S. every few years as well as the Last Waltz.
    Great directors make a difference.

    Gotta love Jules Holland.
I was a big fan of Squeeze.
I saw him in a Seattle night club shortly after Jules quit Squeeze.
Amazing pianist, but more of a wonderful music showman.
    A great evening.
