    Don't know, but the Turbo is 99.44% more likely to be driven by a D-bag, and badly at that.

    I've had a few cars and bikes and I'd say that given that it's a motorcycle, it's probably easier to crash. The car isn't too bad. 930s made about 240hp to the ground which isn't making any power records. Still not an easy car to dance at the limit. My CBR1000rr was a different animal. I got it brand new and traded it for the RC after riding in the rain and spinning the rear wheel in 3rd gear merging onto the highway. No thanks. This is my third RC and I'll probably stick to twins.

    If the Duc falls thru, check out Triumph Sprint STs. Puts the sport in sport touring. Actually pretty much any Triumph triple's gonna be a hoot. Tiggers, Trophies, etc

    Ditto with pretty much any year VFR. ?Pre 98? were better: gear driven cams.

    Some interesting reading. ...but you'll have to DIY it, seems Terra Mostro's gone.

    It didn't.



    This bike vs. the ZX-6R...wow. It's a little silly how much better nearly everything is about the Ducati. So much easier to swing around in corners. The Ninja always felt like I was throwing a pig around, the SS is really easy to get on top of and carve with.

    That, and it sounds like a manbeast. And the dry clutch...OH THE DRY CLUTCH.

    It may sound better and look better, but any modern 600 will run rings around a 900SS. But it isn't always about the quickest line around a track. Enjoy!

    The dry clutch doesnt do much for me. Sounds like something is broken and masks the otherwise nice sounds that come from that engine.

    Good man, came through. Dry clutch is for MEN and UJMs are for off-the-shelf carbon bike riders. .uh...

    Si Termis but the holy grail is Staintunes on that sucka. All_kinds Willy Wonka mechanical symphony but the clutch you hear death rattling at the light...pull her and she goes Desmo slam! shut!

    Knobs on a 375lb Duc...King Kenny wouldn't ride that garage pony but some fat guy at DucFest would.

    Very nice. It really is hard to beat a 900SS IMO. If those are indeed Termis they're worth $600+ used alone.

    As for the clutch, this is one of my favorite shirts....

    They're Termis.

    Like I said...ALMOST everything. Even with the flat-side carbs on the 900SS, the top-end isn't quite as quick as the ZX-6R, but the torque is magnificent, and the handling prowess is kind of out of this world. Might have to do with my lack of experience (or upper body strength), but the Ducati is much more responsive to body input...it rides a lot like a race bike with a short headtube and steep angles, wheras the Ninja felt like a Roubaix with a 20cm headtube.

    But Vegas>Crackersfield was hell on Earth, especially on the Ninja. Even 110 across the Mojave couldn't really cure how painful it was. Ended up spending the night in Barstow after some mechanical trouble on the UJM. Found the best homestyle Mexican I've ever had at Jenny's Steak & Mariscos in town, but still had to stay there longer than the desired 30 minutes.

    Spending Friday/Saturday in SF with a friend (spare X), any good/affordable B&B or hotel references? Turns out I don't really know anyone in town after four years out of the province...funny how that works.

    Cycle Cat rearsets as well? The previous owner didn't spare any expense.

    If the rear sprocket is still a stock 39T do yourself a favor and replace it with a 41T when it's time for a new one. IMO that really makes a difference in riding around town and you only gain about 200rpm at 70mph. I also think a Sargent seat makes for a much more comfortable ride.

    PS: Chicken strips = Obvious strips along the edge of the tread that hasn't made contact with the pavement.

    Yes, I'm teasing you. I pretty much always had chikken strips on my BMWs. It was intentional 'cause I'm not going to ride 10 10ths on the street. :nono

    These chicken strip references are funny, given that you're a pro bike racer.

    Bakersfield is up and coming (so says a recent article)! Maybe the relentless 20-something factory that is SF will jettison it's beautiful people there after being priced out.

    Try the hostel at Fort Mason. Should be less busy now that the Euros' vacay is done.
