There are several cars I cannot find the turn signals on when I am facing them in traffic during the day, and one of those is the Toyota Prius. The others are Kias and a couple other brands. These slits of light that are always on as headlights and then the directional light is another slit parallel to the always on slit of light, and I am looking trying to find the blinker that isn't really blinking as much as it is pulsing - man what horrible design.

There's a 1972 240Z with 14K miles on it sitting in my barn. That's a sports car.

I’ve thought that the Toyota 86 may be the closest thing to the 280z that my parents had when I was a kid.

It's worth a test drive. We have all sorts of exotic and super fast stuff in here, but getting in that simple little BRZ platform car is never ever a letdown. It just gets all the basics right. Lightweight, good seats, fantastic steering and shifter and it just begs you to drive its wheels off EVERY TIME. It is sort of the modern version of the 240/280z, Porsche 944 etc. Yeah the Supra is quicker but the BRZ/86 is more fun.

If I were in the market for a Porsche, I’d go shop a dealer in another city that didn't have the $$$/capita that Chicago has, for comparison purposes. I had a couple of Audi’s that I would have serviced at a local (Pittsburgh) Porsche/Audi/BMW dealer and they would often receive orders from folks in metro NYC, Miami, Chicago, etc.

The 4.0 GTS actually isn’t nearly the up charge I had thought it would be after some of the highly desirable option boxes are ticked on the 2.0 or 2.5.

It’s very late in the game to get one of these I think new from Porsche but I’ll visit again next Tuesday when the right time to do so has arrived. That’s a big day.

Last weekend my friend Richard took his 1977 3.0L Carrera to Mount Panorama - to race in the Group S class as part of the support races to the Bathurst 12 hour race.

At 0:50 sec he spins out and makes the perfect save (lucky) on the elevated part of the circuit!

Along with Road Atlanta, Mount Panorama is one of my favorite race courses in the "not Nurburgring, Spa, or LeMans" category. So many elevation changes all over that course.

We mention simracing in another thread, I only know Mount Panorama from Sim racing and have always loved racing it. I wish I could test the real track.

Wow nice save from your friend, he admitted defeat soon enough that he would stay on the tarmac and not slide to the walls as some would by attempting controlling that slide.

If you're into hand made check out Andreas Kummetat's blue Karmann Ghia hard top with a 2.6L Type 4, Porsche 914 5-Gear transmission, 4-wheel disks and I don't know what else. He said that the front end feels light at around 150 mph....and a bit of throttle still available.

My thought exactly. If you are going do it, commit to the bit. At least put some beat up mix-matched wheels on there.

Saw what I think was a 911 Dakar in real life today and it was extremely pretty. I can’t find the livery anywhere - sort of like the Rothman’s but white with pink and blue stripes.
