I had a few bikes back in the 80s/90s and got a BMW RS 1100SE. Never ridden one before. I had to ride it back first day 50 miles to London and the torque steer was fun but it took a few minutes to get used to. Then I really enjoyed it.

Picked this up last December. Has 22K miles on it so far.
Pete,
We gotta do some riding on back roads before the world ends. Great bike.
XR2 Straight up cop bike. Love it love it love it. Best sound in the business.
I just moved my GSA back to homebase for the winter where I'll do some heated rides with pals.
*If anyone has a strong recommend for a high performance (not on the track) rider school that teaches trail braking please LMK.

I've been trying very hard not to buy one of these.

I sold my last moto several years ago but I'm getting the bug to do some motor assisted riding again. The SAS hits a sweet spot for me--excellent on the road, able to comfortably gobble up huge chunks of highway and back road, and capable on gravel roads as well. It is kind of a hybrid between my departed water cooled multistrada touring and my 990 adventure (otherwise known as the world's biggest dirt bike). And there are currently incredible incentives available.
A friend of ours bought a Super Duke (very similar to the Super Adventure I think) 2-3 years ago and lost interest in his other bikes. And he has some of the really famous sweet-spot models from BMW, Ducati and Moto Guzzi. I laughed when he said he bought another motorcycle, because he needs a hole in the head also, right? But I never see him on any other bike now. In fact, we see him more often because he can ride to our house - great excuse. He cleans his other bikes but he rides the KTM all-the-time. I am not a motorcyclist, but he is and he knows bikes and is super particular about them, so if he feels this way about his Super Duke, then there has to be something great about it.
A colleague of mine owns a super duke and love it but still uses a boring (his words) honda hornet to commute because according to him the KTM needs a lots of maintenance and tends to be a money pit with too much time spent servicing for small issues. Not sure if he has bad luck or if it is something that can be generalized.

This is a bike.
Watch the ride video. One of my favorite roads, from Ojai to Carpinteria.

It's been a while, but I love riding in that area. I had an amazing trip/ride from Malibu up through Ojai through gas alley ending in Paso a few years back. Such great roads!
I have a 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200S. It's, by far, the best motorcycle I've ever owned. Love it! The only thing I'd like from the new bikes is the wheelie control so that I could really hammer more often. I find myself being careful (not a bad thing) without the newer electric leash.

Max BMW came and picked my bike up on Tuesday.
Getting some work done, some fixes, and replace current tank back to the original, which looks like this...actually, it IS this.

that is a cool BMW.
if you don't mind the German speaking, there is this *great* documentary series on builders and makers by a regional (southwest) German public TV broadcaster. This one is on how to restore a clapped out BMW back to its former glory:
I'm guessing that it's almost as impressive without the words. (no subtitles either)
Enjoy.
