Ahh, the boss. He's a state treasure here for sure.

My son has recently been dabbling in listening to records, and we got him a very basic record player. Local (Hoboken) music shop we found had a lot of old Bruce on vinyl, so we've been listening to some of the old stuff. Always good.

Discovered Jonathan Demme's Stop Making Sense had been purchased long ago and added to our Apple Music by my wife. Marriage.

That makes me think of Talking Head's new album of modern bands doing covers of the Stop Making Sense album. Somehow the slight insanity of Haley Williams matches the feeling of Burning Down the House. Paramore lights the match.

Huh, I had not heard about that. I would definitely check that out. One of my favorite tunes -- okay, I'll be honest, the only tune I liked -- from Peter Gabriel's Scratch My Back album (where he covers other artists' songs) was his version of Talking Heads' "Listening Wind". Talking Heads tunes definitely can blossom with others' interpretations.

The last few days I discovered that Spotify separates Paul McCartney's solo stuff from Wings - which I guess makes sense (although in reality there's not a lot of difference?) Been listening to Wildlife and London Town - 2 albums I guess I vaguely knew of, but hadn't really listened to. They have their off moments (the sort of song that it feels like John Lennon could have improved?) but there are also some really great tracks.

Every season I implore my soccer team to do no coach’s gifts, and they ignore me. Credit to my wife for shifting them away from local beer/bar cards to the CD Cellar. Had a few piling up and spent some time there today. Even got $4 cash back to boot!

Fam is away this weekend and I have moved all our connected speakers to the family room. Records will be played loudly tonight.

My tastes are varied, so YMMV. It was released just before my senior year of college, so it was the unofficial soundtrack to a pretty fun month or two of life.
