    Mrs. RW and I moved our daughter this past weekend and she has a great farmer's market located about 3 blocks from her new apartment. Dinner last evening was a direct result of the purchases that we made on Saturday.

    End of this week’s farmer’s market finds...breaded chicken with Israeli couscous, goat cheese and fresh vegetables. I think that I ate 3 heirloom tomatoes for dessert, as they were so damn good.

    Mrs. RW hit the farmer's market yesterday afternoon and the mad alchemist whipped up fresh tomatoes, garden greens (parsley and basil from her pots), capers, oranges and feta cheese to make an awesome sauce poured over pasta and braised chicken.

    DIY pad tai last night. My 2nd or 3rd attempt and certainly the best...not as good as the local Tai place, but plenty good enough I was happy with it!
    Pad tai noodles
    Pad tai sauce
    4 Chicken breasts cut into strips
    Matchstick carrots
    Half onion, sliced thin
    Green onion (sliced thin)
    Two eggs
    Crushed roasted peanuts (unsalted)
    Cilantro
    Lime
    Bean sprouts

    Scramble the eggs, season with a bit of salt and pepper, and set aside
    Sauté the onion and set aside
    Cook the noodles, drain and rinse under cold water just a few seconds and set aside
    Cook the chicken, season with a bit of salt and pepper
    Combine chicken, eggs, onion, noodles, carrots, sprouts, and sauce in the same pan and stir fry until everything is coated in sauce.
    Top with green onion, crushed peanuts, and cilantro, and give it a squeeze of lime.

    Whole process only took me about 20mins start to finish, including cutting up my own carrots. I used good ol' olive oil for cooking the eggs and chicken...but I imagine had I used sesame oil for the chicken it would really punch it up a bit.

    A bit of a guilty secret. I travel between two homes and sometimes arrive late. I keep a secret stash of frozen fish fingers, some potatoes, onions and garlic, all of which last for ages, a neighbour will leave out a lemon. Shop bought mayonnaise in the fridge. Takes about 20 mins. Can be more enjoyable than something I have prepared for hours. Nice to know you have something OK no matter what life throws at you on your travels.

    Made Pad Tai again a few days ago, and did indeed use some sesame oil to cook the chicken, and it was indeed a notch better. Also, no onion this time, but I added bell pepper and a lot more green onion.

    Home grown Vermont Cranberry beans, home grown garlic (lots), home grown onion and broccoli rabe. Served with Iggy's whole wheat sourdough bagette.

    @guido If that's what my plate looked like every day, I expect I'd be a full stone lighter, live ten years longer, and be much better looking. Beans, greens, and whole grains: all we probably need. Well done.

    @caleb I don't know for stones (I see a google search in my future...), but when climbing my pockets feel like they are filled with them, so I'm trying to be good... Thanks for noticing!

    Does "baby sitting" a job give you a better appreciation for the difficult and selfless service your Super gives you? Said with tongue firmly in cheek. Although I have sometimes wished I had not let my PM watch over my job.

    They hate when I babysit...universal fear of all Supers as you know, Mike. Fortunately I’ve worked with this Super since 1991 and we’ve been through quite a number of projects together and share a common understanding of the skills and tenacity needed in managing a large project. He and his wife took a long overdue trip to Aruba and I get stuck with snowy Pittsburgh, watching the signal crews erect a 4-intersection traffic signal that essentially wraps up the project. My key duties are to supply coffee and donuts to the crews and to act like I know what I’m talking about in terms of deer hunting and venison processing, as we are currently in deer season and the opening day of buck hunting (rifle) started on Sunday. Hard to believe that we have crews on site.
