The ZDX looks like a cheap X6. They didn't even pick a good car to copy.

Congrats on the purchase. I always knew you were of superior intelligence.

42.4! That's better than we get! The last tank, which was probably 50/50 highway and city, was just under 30 mpg. I get better mileage than my wife - something about that instantaneous mileage gauge keeps my foot light. I think she ignores it.

I've seen mid- to high-30s on the highway. Never over 40. But I haven't had the opportunity to use the cruise control for an extended period yet. I hope to do that on the drive to VA next month.

My 2009 Fit just recently turned 2. I've got 32k on it (a lot of commuting and some cross-country road trips). The computer fuel mileage calculator is woefully inaccurate. I have kept a log of every tank of gas I've put in it and calculate my own mpg (trip odo distance div by gallons). I average 34-35 in a 80/20 hwy/city mix with my best being 39.8mpg. I love the little car, it's economical, fun to drive(with 5spd manual), and I can fit my 60+cm bikes in with the front wheel off.

Kind of OT but i track the Golf's mileage on Fuelly.com. It will track your mpg for that tank and average mpg as well as average price per gallon. My average in the TDi so far is 36.7 with a best of 38.3, that's a blend of Highway and City in a car that is a blast to drive, hauls 4 easily and I can lay my 63.5 Goodrich in the back with the front wheel removed, 147 horse, 230ish fp's of torque and a 6 speed will put a smile on your face. I drive 30k a year, 20-21 ave wasn't getting it in the Maxima anymore.

Our Fit is a base automatic. I think the shift mapping of the Sports is bit more aggressive so the mileage suffers a bit. What do you guys have?

I drove the same 130ish miles today. I had the cruise on which I think hurt mileage a bit. Lots of downshifting on grades. Still over 40mpg per the trip computer, which I previously suspected to be generous.

Please tell me there is an M50 under the hood.

My 90 snapped a timing belt and lunched the head (the belt went way before its time). I always dreamed of tracking it back down and modifying the shit out of it.

    I'd settle for a clean e30 or e36 M3, or a 2002, though.

The iX is an awesome car. I remember back when I worked for a BMW dealer a woman came in and wanted to know why the AWD wasn't turning on in her iX. She said she kept pushing the button to turn on the AWD and it never came on. I said- what do you mean? It's AWD- it's always on. The button you are pushing is the child lock for the windows.

That E30 Touring is really cool (especially with the 3.73 LS, Bilsteins, sport seats, etc.) and while it's low miles and appears to be in fantastic shape that's an awful lot of money for that car. I also don't really care for the Zender wheels but that's just me... I really miss my E30. The E36 M3 is one of the most perfect cars ever built.

Right now I wouldn't mind seeing this in the garage-

I ended up spending alot more time than I should have looking at e30 tourings today. They are crazy expensive when you see them in Canada, and the US (where they were never legitimately imported). I guess once they reach 25 years of age, it gets easier. Right now, your looking at 10K plus to get one across the atlantic and legal in the US.

And yes, the Zender wheels are gross.

Realistically, of all the BMWs I lust after, I'd like to get an 02 or an e36 M3. Maybe some time in the next decade.

I've been dreaming of an 02 for some time- they're such fun cars. There's lots of M3s out there. The trick is finding one that hasn't been flogged and has all it's records. The S50/S52 motors can be expensive to work on (not as bad as Porsche!) but they're pretty darn robust, as is the driveline. The only thing I really remember being a constant problem with them was the water pump impeller. The great thing about BMWs is the parts availability.

Went to the Original British Car Day today. Used to have an MGB, and there were some fine ones there. One guy even had a Triumph TR3B for sale at a price I could possibly entertain affording. It needs quite a bit of work down the line, but it would be a sweet driver. And if I pumped a pile of money into it, it could look like these:
