Yup, 2 or 3 times in the past 5 years. His follow up Armada is good too. I think it's fun stuff.

I enjoyed the book, "Ready Player One". Not really interested in the movie.
Saw "Three Billboards..." over the weekend. Excellent!

I watched "Moonrise Kingdom" with my parents (!) not too long ago. I don't think they have a clue who Wes Anderson is, but they seemed very intrigued and engaged...right up until the closing credits started to roll, and then my Mom said "Well I don't need to see any more movies like that!" I told her she'd come around, and suggested she add "The Grand Budapest Hotel", "The Squid And The Whale", "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zisou", and "The Royal Tennenbaums" to her Netflix queue. We'll see...

I liked the book and the audio book read by Will Wheaton a lot but thought the movie was OK. I think my complaints about Armada were the same as what everyone that didn't like RPO said about it.

Re: Movies that don't suck
A few weekends back I saw "The Death of Stalin" and thought it was a hoot. Dark, given the subject matter, but hilarious just the same. Definitely worth seeing.
This past weekend I saw "A Quiet Place." It was entertaining, but had issues with some fundamental plot stuff. I'd say it was a B. Worth the $7 ticket, but only if there really wasn't anything else of interest showing.

An embarrassment of riches.

Wanted to take my 7 y/o to see Isle of Dogs but checked and the rating said PG-13 due to mature themes death and dark narratives.
He hasn't seen much beyond cartoons and I've never found Wes's films to be dark - can either of you say it would be ok to watch?
I could preview it but would prefer to watch it once and preferably with him

Infinity War did not suck.
Not for everyone, but if you enjoyed most / some of the other MCU films, you probably can’t go wrong.

Agree 100%. If you're into the MCU movies you can't go wrong with this one. It is one of the best so far.

A clockwork orange not only doesn't suck, but is a masterpiece.

Requiem for a Dream is good too.
Also, can't remember if I mentioned this one or not, but Poolhall Junkies is one of my favorite movies ever. You've probably never heard of it, but you will recognize people in it, and it's a lot of fun.

The Rider by Chloe Zhao
incredible- I have lived there, and known those people, and could not believe it could be captured on film. Just amazing film making.
Free Solo- Alex Honnold's climb of El Cap by Jimmy Chin
I knew what Alex did was jaw-dropping, but the film gives more context, and it's even more astonishing knowing what happened around the climb.
The latest Star Wars film is top notch. I was enthralled. Ron Howard breathes life into what was to me a pretty tired yarn.

As a fan, which did you like more?
The Fantastic Mr Fox or Isle of Dogs?

This film was amazing. A singularly impressive human feat.

BlacKKKlansman...
don't know if this was recommended but the acting, cinematography, dialogue were top notch. And there apparently is some underlying truth to the story. AND the ending is a triumph which serves as a great reminder that democracy requires participation.

Cold War
Really one of the most significant modern films I've seen in years. Gorgeous from start to finish.
Yes, it is subtitled.

Free Angela and All Political Prisoners - See how far we've come in the last 40-50 years. And how far we haven't.
Sorry to Bother You - A totally freaky vision of the near future. Loose, strange and wonderful.
GO!

The Dawn Wall.
A testament to persistence in the face of repeated failure (for the one climber).
