"Annihilation" - if you like big budget sci-fi with an element of mystery (bonus points if you're a Lovecraft fan) - an amazing movie.
not sure if me or others have mentioned these but:
Untouchables, the French version. they are gonna hollywood it up soon, so see it in its original brilliant form before its bastardized.

i happen to love Mamet's Spanish Prisoner-Mike G
Molly's Game, especially if you're into poker.
But if you are, you've probably already seen it a few times.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. If you saw Godless and thought that it needed more humour, tragedy and singing, then this is for you.
Lucky. Minimalist film about an old man pondering mortality somewhere in Texas. Superb performance by Harry Dean Stanton.
The Captain (Der Hauptmann). Lucious black and white Second World War film about a deserter who steals a uniform and falls deep into a rabbit hole of evil. Deeply affecting. Keep watching into the credits.

That last reference reminds me of my dad's account of a Russian soldier who was taken prisoner of war by the Germans but escaped from the PW train in Poland and crawled to a barn where he was found by the farmer. There was a quota so in order not to be turned in he bargained to take their son's identity and take his place so they could hide their son. The Russian soldier went through everything my dad's group went through but at the end after the liberation the group denounced the Russian and he was sent back to certain death. It haunted my dad, he was away working at the US Army camp and he always wondered if and hoped he could have turned the group.
Is that untouchables or intouchables?
Thanks

The Sisters Brothers
Free Solo is a very scary and intense film. I left the theater with sore muscles and joints -- my jaw and knuckles especially. I probably could have also done a standing back flip, for the first and only time in my life, due to the adrenaline in my system.
Gotta see it again now that it's in IMAX nearby.
