whenever Billy Joe Shaver shows up around here I am there. Its been two years in a row.
40th Anniversary show... if there are any tickets free for the last show on the tour in DC, grab them. You'll thank me later. That was unbelievably good.
There is some video from the show here: https://www.jambase.com/article/gart...40-tour-albany
The Damned 40th anniversary in Boston this spring. Have seen them twice in the last 5 years and they're not slowing down.
PJ Harvey in Montreal in April. Never seen her; one of the few on my checklist.
The Wedding Present in Montreal in April. Saw them in 1988, figure I'll check in and see how Gedge is aging.

Wanna go see Shovels & Rope but tickets seem to be $190/ea. Surely there's a glitch as I could drive out to Red Rocks to see them and still have beer money left.
Just got home from seeing Alan Doyle and The Beautiful Gypsies...Alan being the front guy from Great Big Sea. He's just as much of a gifted musician and showman as when we first saw him back in the late 90's and his current band members are every bit as talented.

hey, how lucky can one man get.
Punch Brothers, I'm With Her, Julian Lage in Portland ME July 29th. Not unlike a traveling edition of APHC, which is not a bad thing. But giving Chris Thile and the Bros more room to stretch is like throwing a match into dry straw...

Billy Joel at Lambeau Field in June. Snow should be gone by then.
O man this is going to be something.
The Punches are like nobody else, they are all virtuosos who love playing together and incendiary.
Lage is incredible.
And I'd die to see Aoife, Sara and Sarah together. I saw Aoife and Sarah on Cayamo and they were both wonderful, separately and together.
I do have tickets to see Aoife open for Jules and Critter in Portland, OR next month.
I've also got tickets for David Crosby, Tim O Brien and Rodney Crowell.
I saw Jules, Critter and Aoife tonite. The guitar "shred fest" as Aoife called it was really great. Very different players but they forge an interesting place to meet and both were in fine form. Aoife was less successful. She did a fine version of Porchlight, but the rest of her tunes sort of merged into a bland sameness. I don't think she could hear herself well because she would start phrases too loud and end them in a whispery softness that lost the words. When Critter and Jules came back and they did trio stuff and she sang background for Critter on a couple of his tunes and it's just obvious that she is the best back up singer around right now. I just wished her own stuff worked as well for her. I can't wait to hear "I'm With Her", it is such a great context for the three of them.
All in all a very enjoyable night of music.

Folks,
Caspian is on tour again (3rd time in just over a year). If you're into post-rock/wall-of-sound stuff I strongly recommend seeing them. In concert they're almost as good as Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Way better than Explosions in the Sky + Pelican.
Worth every penny!
