After reading in another thread about brown butter my mind went to butter, capers, lemons and chicken. Made a dinner for myself and the rest of the extended family
staying with us of chicken piccata. Pasta and garlic bread to finish it off. Sorry my picture skills are not up to VS standards.

    Simple weeknight supper:

Grain bowl with Farro, sauteed snowpeas and garlic scapes from the garden, pepper, carrot, scallion, cucumber, and avocado.

My wife has been cooking up a storm during the Quarantine so I have been recording the results. I am getting fatter by the day.

    Homemade Raviolis.
    Korean Bibimbap.
Full-on Korean BBQ with Pork jowl and Wagu beef.
Spanish tapas with Shrimp in garlic, soft shell crab and spicy potatoes.
    A very tasty flan.
    Chinese braised chicken feet.

One of our Favorite recipes from our Favorite Cookbook, make sure to take your time with the Garlic we cook it slower than the recipe calls for and spread it on a baguette slice. Good vinegar makes a difference but don't get crazy with it. Quick and easy recipe included.

A dish from my childhood. My grandparents immigrated here from Poland and brought her food with her.
This is a dish she made often and in the summer it was really good with her heirloom tomatoes and cukes from seeds she brought with her.
Fried cabbage and homemade noddles with heirloom tomatoes and cukes. The maters are the first of the year from my garden.

Tomatoes finally starting to come. Quick sauce with home grown tomatoes, basil and cayenne peppers. Shallots and goat cheese complete the sauce over whole wheat linguini.

Guy, that looks really good. I can’t tell from the pics if this is served hot or cold. It looks like it would be good either way.

I'm thinking the leftovers could go on/with pasta now.

My SO is down on the cape with her family, so I get to make a sauce with a bunch of volunteer green zebras and a few other approaching sell by tomatos, onion, garlic, thyme and basil for a nearly all home grown adventure. Actually the goat cheese and the whole wheat pasta aren't raised on prem... Fake news!

    Use those tomatoes!
Tonight's sauce features 3 types of home grown tomatoes, home grown garlic, basil, oregano, thyme, parsley and someone else's onions and the Beyond hot italian sausage like product. Served over polenta.

Inspired by the conversation started by Too Tall on Indian food, a longing to see my elderly parents in the flesh after COVID quarantine for so long and meatless monday, we have home style South Canara vegetarian cuisine. I was born and grew up here the son of Indian immigrants. This is still my soul food, along with Pulled Pork that I learned from my white American father-in-law.

    Indian by shenoi, on Flickr

Boiled basmati rice (Laksmi Brand from the Indian store)
Green bean poriyal dry fry curry with spices, curry leaf and fresh (frozen) coconut
Cauliflower ginger and tomato curry (Gobi Jhalfrezie). A shot of vinegar at the end to give it some zip.
Dalitoye (Udipi style masoor dal - pink lentil stew). On top of the rice.
The other stuff on the rice is a Podi powder, basically ground up garbanzo beans and spices (chili, cumin, corriander etc.) to flavor rice. Not quite as poor man's food as tomato Rasam, but pretty basic
My real name is Hemanth and among other things, I like bikes

Props on that plate of soul food, my friend. I'd be all over that.

Yesterday I stayed home with my daughter and took the opportunity to help her with some school stuff, frustratingly hang some lights on boxwoods and hollies, and make a pot of soup beans. I'm a pinto man for this application, but my mom always used white northern beans so I tried mayocoba because I had them. There's a chunk of local country ham hock (Finchville) in there as well as some 2-year old country ham from my riding buddy. He also sliced off some of a 3-year old ham form me that I snacked on while these cooked yesterday. Weisenberger makes for legit cornbread, wish I would've had this where I grew up farther west. No chow chow, but a dash of vinegar set it right. A well-rounded meal it is not, but I make no apologies. This will be even better for lunch tomorrow. Pretty sure this would be my death row meal.

Made a frenchish variant on the lentil stew. This time with Farro, dried mushrooms, fresh crimini and shiitake, onions, garlic and lots of herbs...

My kids (4 and 8) have been increasingly picky as of late and dad needed a win so it was spaghetti carbonara tonight. Mission accomplished, they all but licked the bowl.
