Recommend to me a gentlemans pocket knife

I was surprised by how much not having a small knife at my disposal disrupted my day at work. I found myself reaching into my pocket and finding only lint on a number of occasions today.

I'm still loving the Shinola version I bought, but the regular Benchmade version also looks really nice. The axis-lock is awesome. It weighs next to nothing. And the blade hasn't dulled at all. So, yeah, consider yourself enabled.

They are my favorite one hand pocket knife. I have had a Spyderco Delica for 15 years. It is my backpacking/house work knife.

I bought a Kershaw Scallion, which I just don't like because of the auto assist. If shipping to Canada wasn't so much I'd sell it to you for $20!

i tell ya. i fly all the time now for work and never check bags. one of the things i miss on the road the most is my little pocket knife. i'm so used to having it handy, and not being able to fly with one really bugs me.

I make a donation to the TSA about once a year, as no matter how diligent I try to be I still end up at the scanner with a small blade about that often.

I picked up Buck 357 as a replacement for my AWOL Stockman earlier this summer. The 357 is pretty much the perfect knife for my needs.

Just because I wanted a new knife, not because I needed it. But, it is cool and the perfect size for carrying everyday. There's something about an automatic that makes me giggly.

I lost my cheap and cheerful pocket knife (Opinel No7) this past week, and I'm looking for a replacement. Needs to be not too expensive, because I will likely lose it too.

I'd like:

One handed open, and possibly close
Locking blade
Reasonably compact and light-as in I can keep it in my front pocket and not have it bother me.
No weird serrated edge or blade shape that makes it hard to sharpen.

Any suggestions?

I've got this Kershaw and really like it. Got it as a gift from my father in law several years ago, it mostly sat in a drawer as I didn't carry a knife every day. But when I started spending every day in my shop I found it incredibly useful, so now I'm always carrying it, and of course use it a lot outside of the shop as well. I like having the clip, makes it super easy to get, and doesn't get mixed in with my keys (left pocket is my phone, right is keys and knife). Blade has a lock to keep it closed, but I rarely lock it. Once open the blade locks in place of course. I like the shape of the blade, I've found it seems to cut better than a straighter blade.

You'll notice one spot where I damaged the edge a bit near the tip, I forget what I was doing exactly, but it was something kind of stupid. Prying something apart probably. Still cuts great. I've never sharpened it or even used a steel on it.

I bought one of these as a gift for the landowner that lets us duck hunt his land. Had it engraved "Thank You", made a lanyard and tied it to a handle of Capt. Morgan. I really want to get one for myself. Smooth open/close, relatively thin and reasonably priced.

Carter makes some pretty awesome knives, both kitchen and hunting. His old videos of him sharpening knives on cinder blocks are pretty funny too. I'd be all over this if I was into fixed blades...

Boker plus tech tool initial review:

Its tactile feedback is not as crisp as I would like. Half-stops are vague, sort of non-existent, and it doesn't snap open or shut the way I generally like for a slip joint.
Steel seems to be good quality and very sharp. I like the pocket clip. Fit and finish are nice -- no rough edges, etc.

At $30, it's definitely a keeper for when I want to carry something smaller and more civilized than the PM2.

Tiny, kludgy to open and close, sharp as a razor blade.
The pocket clip was designed for a tank. Removed it immediately and now it actually fits in a pocket.

I had a meeting in Golden, CO which happens to be the home of Spyderco. Oh and they have a factory outlet... I now have a Spyderco Dragonfly which just might be the perfect knife. It is smaller than the Delica (on top) but you can still open it with one hand.

Yup, I looked at it n amazon and thought it might be too small. I can’t think of a reason I need a bigger knife.
