Taliesin West? Some sort of interior theater? Took me a bit to find that detail in pictures. I’d like to take my wife there, she’s a fan.
Yessir Dan. I was last out that way when the kids were too little, so we weren’t going to miss the chance to tour this time. Mixed emotions about FLW’s personal life, but no question that his vision and design skills were extraordinary. Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob are both about 90 minutes from Pittsburgh and we have been to both sites several times. Eventually we will make it up to Taliesin.

Yes, I should clarify, she’s a fan of his architecture and design achievements.
When we visited Taliesen West, I figured out why the outdoor furniture I'd built out of redwood for our backyard in Phoenix was falling apart so rapidly. Same reason all those redwood timbers in Taliesen West are falling apart - redwood disintegrates in the desert.
Also the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix is actually designed by Albert McArthur for his brothers Charles and Warren McArthur. FLW signed off on the engineering plans and sold the McArthurs the right to use his patented modular block construction - except that FLW didn't own the patent.
Warren McArthur was a furniture and lighting designer. He did some pretty fantastic furniture, some of it for the Biltmore. He was an early designer of aluminum indoor/outdoor furniture, all with his trademark "rubber bumper" feet. https://www.artnet.com/artists/warren-mcarthur/

The writer gets a room of her own at the architect’s former home in the Wisconsin hills. A weekend workshop offers ample time to explore the grounds.
Thanks for the link! If i ever make it up there and decide to stay overnight, I’ll check in advance to see if they’ve added fire protection, as that building has a rather odd history of fires and tragedy.

Annual front yard poppy and lupine bloom, surprisingly fewer than last year, I'm guessing the heavy rains this year may have washed away/exposed seeds that didn't germinate.

This picture was taken while on the way to my dentist, yesterday. I have lived near York Minster for 30 years and there have been few occasions when it has been free of scaffolding. Observing how hard we work to keep this building standing, I marvel that our ancestors were able to complete it in the first place.
