i am not a big fan of "voluntold" in the workplace, particularly when served with a smile. though i suppose I am happy to still be employed /voluntoldable so there's that.

Frame. Not like used in this forum but "I will frame the conversation for you".

All of this reminded me of this classic New Yorker cartoon...

I once went to a mine site workshop where we were all encouraged to "think outside the box" to generate some crazy ideas some of which would hopefully end up not being crazy.

EXCEPT, the guy running it then went on to say, you focus on this area. You focus on this area...etc.

So to be clear, within the constraints of this box you've just set, you want us to think outside some other box. Genius.

As time passes you will realize that your body is not symmetrical.
Some more than others, but it will show with the years.
I still love symmetry in design and concept.

If the word is being misused in the business world, well that sucks!

My beef with symmetrical is that it does nothing symmetric doesn't.

Slam or any variation of the act of getting verbally 'slammed'.

Incredibly over used in the news.

"Circle back" is one expression that makes anyone appear to have a two-digit IQ. I know, I'm a terrible person.

I effing hate "lean in" and all that yarn spun by Ms. Sandberg. She blithely go about telling others to "lean in" based on her own experience, but she never quite forthrightly disclose the fact she was at least born on second base, if not third base. Everything is easy, if one is taken under the wing of someone like Mr. Larry Summers. Granted, she did achieve that via her own hard work, but when one has the backing of a Harvard President and Treasury Secretary, one really doesn't need to do a lot of leaning in. Like the good salesperson that she is, did end up selling her a lot of books though.

I almost forgot that the former FLOTUS had this to say about it:

Obama told a sold-out crowd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn during a Dec. 1 stop on a tour promoting her memoir. “It’s not always enough to lean in, because that s--- doesn’t work all the time.”

Thirty years as a trauma surgeon and most of my communication was technical laced with profanity. Four years as a hospital exec and I'm throwing every one of the terms in the Atlantic article around with alacrity and think I sound good doing so. Looks like a little introspection is in order.
