Maybe there will be a bluefish run again one of these years.

I remember when my oldest liked the playing with the bait more than fishing. Good times.

Hah, I remember playing with the worms when I went fishing as a little kid. But what you can see in the baitwell in those pics was the catch!

About six more weeks and I'll be in Baja for near 6 months! From what I've been told by folks down there the bite has been particularly good, at least in my area, tuna and Dorado.

My favorite time of the internet year is when Garro comes back from Baja and posts his pictures.

    In Barriles?

Haven't been to the East Cape in years - man........like 20!

Barriles is too windy for me, but there is mountain biking - the Sierra Laguna is AMAZING as well - check out Aguas Calientes and Canyon de Zorro

Fall time and fresh rains mean steelhead are pouring into the system. The fish of a Thousand casts, we don't always get to encounter them, but I have been working hard the last week. someone has to. I also tie these old style Atlantic Salmon patterns, as well as freestyles for steelheads. They are fun to tie, and such a majestic fish is worthy of the offering.

DSC00950.jpgDSC00967.jpgSea trout caught at 3am in the dark in the River Lyd, Devon, England in August. Most fish are returned but this one swallowed the fly almost out of sight down its throat so, after a short attempt to extract it in the dark with a head torch, it was killed.

The daylight photo was taken the previous day near where it was caught, it was caught just above the weir.

American (RL Winston) rod, English (Hardy) reel.

How do you like that Winston rod? I fished in Montana this summer not too far from Twin Bridges where they're made, and I was just in Yorkshire for 3 Peaks Cyclocross and saw a little bit of fly fishing waters in the Dales.

I'm starting to look into fly fishing in Spain although we're 3 hours from the Pyrenees there are supposed to be some nice trout streams near the mountains and I've heard there's good brown trout streams near Girona.

Anyway I'm in the market for a rod and reel leaning towards a G Loomis

    Nice!

My friend ha the "mini" Kraken, it's so cute!

But what's awesome in the big boy is you can slide a 7' rod right into the front hatch along with my crutches, a spare paddle, a fish bag, and, and.......

Not to mention it's really comforting when the waves start coming in at about belly-button height
