    Default my diversion today

I did an easy spin with a friend today beginning at 12 PST. It was a 2 hr ride and 2 beer post ride stop. We went to a quiet, but well stocked craft beer, family owned bar. I asked for the remote control for the tele nearest our booth. I found the CSPAN channel and watched the inaugural coverage with no sound. I love CSPAN. It was a great visual distraction from the day's main action. Color, horses, fancy outfits, young and old. I shared it with the First Family from their viewing stand. I wondered if the rest of the parade route looked like it was a clear midday in summer. I doubt that.

I could vote for Brian Lamb.

I watched the coverage on BBC World and then rode. It was nice to just have a narration of events with no opinions. The ride was better, but it was no Bremerton to Poulsbo commute.

I went for a ride, had lunch, sat on the porch until after dark and was rewarded with a visit by one of the local screech owls, then went inside and turned on the Willunga stage of the Tour Down Under while I made dinner. I haven't even nearly begun to tap out the things I would rather do and watch.

Well this time of year your route may have been better. Never been down your way so can't say for certain.

Sounds like a great day. I'll get controversial by questioning the cycling event in fair weather this time of year - you know, America First.

Diversion from what, may I ask?

Was there some significant event of interest taking place that I should have been aware of?

Has the carnage finally come to an end?

(Speaking of "carnage," - that certainly was news to me. Did the DNC have some secret network of concentration camps, complete with "showers" and furnaces?)

Spent two hours with my mother. We talked vaguely about the events of the day. Both of us hesitate and we're probably glad my father isn't here to see the events unfold. He probably wouldn't approve, though wouldn't have approved of the alternative either. We were confronted with two flawed options. He saw further ahead and rearward than the next or previous 24-hour news cycle. We can all learn from that.

Rode my Indy Fab today. First road ride of the year. I started yesterday in Athens, Greece and the day before stopped near Doha and had a quick stop in Kuwait. My fatigue of the last six days meant there would be little critical thought today. What a week.......

Watched zero of what happened in the world today. I'm glad I visited Athens and the Acropolis of Athens and the Parthenon a few days back. It gives perspective.

I for one would like a more distant view. Carl Sagan perhaps.

I wanted to listen to the speech in the original Klingon, sadly the BBC discontinued that service.
