Hi folks
First post on here but I’ve been lurking for a while.
I’m in the process of building my first frame and I am “stuck” on an issue with mixing flux. Until I get it resolved I am reluctant to move past the current practice lug/tube stage.
I am bronze brazing and using SIF 101 flux. For some reason (user error no doubt) I’m really struggling to get a nice, smooth flux paste from the mix. Instead I get this horribly gritty and lumpy mixture.
This is causing all sorts of issues with my practice brazes, mainly because the mixture doesn’t go on well and exhausts/burns very quickly in those areas.
Should I be using warm water to mix? Or mixing on a hob to help it dissolve? Or using the wife’s cake mixer 😀?
My frame is mitered and ready to braze but I’m stuck on this issue.
Thank you for your help in advance.
