    Default Game of Thrones

I just started watching season 1, finished episode 8 last night, will probably watch the last 2 tonight. Anyone else watching? It's awesome so far... great characters and great storylines. Emilia Clarke... I would.

Watched it when it originally aired - spring/summer I think. Agree with everything you said. Might read the books too.

I have not seen the show since I don't get HBO, but the books are entertaining and worth reading.

I loved it. My wife loved it too. Can't wait for season 2. Daenerys is serious eye candy.

Read the books. The show is great, but there are so many details in the books that are lost in translation.

I concur. Watched the series then nerded my way through the first three books. Working on the fourth and the fifth is on the shelf waiting to be read. LOTR on steroids.

    She has nothing on Ros.

I loved the first season. Best show since Battlestar Galactica.

Loved it, Started watching the series, and picked up the first book. I finished the season reading about a series ahead then watching it. I heard there were issues making the second season...something about not wanting to follow the books quite as closely. I hope they finish the series, it was fantastic!

Great show, and it lead me to the books. So often the author makes the characters richer and deeper than a film or show can. The books are really easy and enjoyable reading--no mental heavy lifting. I ripped through book one just as fast as reading the Godfather years ago after seeing the movie. As for HBO shows go, I am enjoying Boardwalk Empire now, but Rome was my favorite.

I love the show! Its a bit too gory at time for my taste, but those scenes are few and far between.

On a similar topic, I just finished up the Codex Alera by Jim Butcher. Really good series.

I watch the show and listen to the books. I finished book 2 a while ago and will start 3 soon. My wife was going to watch it with me, but the brutality and gore turned her away. It's a great story and I hope they stay true to the books.

I read the all the books but the last one which I listened to because my wife got the audiobook and I didn't want to buy it twice. The books themselves are a mix of really cool and super boring. I think the super boring really comes through in the audio version because I couldn't just glance over the 5 mintue description of so-and-so's coat of arms.

I saw 2 episodes of the show and it seemed good. I will wait for the blu-rays via netflix.

Yeah great series, can't wait for season 2. On that note, anyone watch the old Firefly series? God I wish they didn't cancel that. I mean it was perfect, Space Cowboys and everything.

How does Spartacus compare to Game of Thrones? I watched episode 1 last night... I feel like it's going to be underwhelming after watching GoT first.

Firefly was the best. I didn't see it til the series was over. I heard that Fox screwed everything up playing the episodes out of order and other weird stuff that killed the show.

    apples and oranges.
if you saw the film 300, then you will see the same cinematography in Spartacus.
Spartacus is def not intended to be shared with the family- very graphic fight and sex scenes.
Having said that, i can watch the episodes over and over again.
On a sad note, the main actor who played Spartacus dies of cancer not long ago.
Season 1 is the main story line
Season 2 is the prologue to 1 (so no Spartacus)
Season 3 was cast with a new actor and will show the rebellion and what happens after they leave the school
