Default Abrasive Dust Collection - Movable, adjustable nozzle at the vise

I use this rig to collect abrasive dust when I'm grinding or using AL oxide cloth at the vise.

It gets the job done fairly well but I'd like something a little less kludgy. A small, clear bowl as the collection nozzle and a better way to position it for improved capture. Thoughts include suspending the hose from the ceiling, a roll around stand with a vertical post or something that plugs onto my vise pedistle but an easy or cheap articulating arm for nozzle positioning seems to be the challenge. Industrial units are available and tick all of the boxes but I aim to do this for way less money. The fan and hose/ductwork are the easy parts, it's that last couple of feet incompassing nozzle positioning that I need to work out. The arm from an old drafting lamp maybe? I'll check the chemistry lab supply catalogs too; those folks have some erector set type stuff for building apparatus.

Any ideas or photos of your own systems?

Like this arm. Simple, homemade joints.

A super elagant solution was shown by Tom Lipton of Oxtools where he used a fat Noga indicator base with the big magnet and a 1.5" Stauff clamp for the hose clamp.
I'll get a picture for you but it does not qualify as inexpensive:) Maybe if you need the arm for other uses you can justify it?

The arm and magnet are strong enough to position the hose where you need it. Plus you have a monster indicator holder if needed:)

Have you thought about adding a foot pedal? Nice to toggle on without leaving position.
