    Default tellason

I have a Jones'in for some Tellason Gustaves and would like to know of any experience you chaps may have with their Jeans......specifically sizing, they appear to be vanity sized in as much as a 31" pair actually have a 33.5" waist, now how do they shrink/stretch through soaking and subsequently wearing?

    Any help gratefully received etc....

I have own a pair for more than two years now. They are the wider cut style oppose to the skinny jean. They are pretty wide for my skinny legs. I am told they will shrink but I have them dry cleaned them and there has been no shrinkage. These jeans are durable. And I am wearing them as I type.

My 30" Sheffields fit looser than my 31" Ankaras atmo.
Not what you asked, but perhaps it helps a little.

Yeah it does..... Sorta..... Bottom line is with all these things, you need to try them yerself, but I'm trying to do some research Before splurging and making a mistake.

I know they are sanforized so shrinkage should be minimal......

    thanks

Yup, but you know, I don't lose any sleep at night over it. My wife still thinks I'm cool.

I have Sheffields 32 in 12.5 fabric, and the waist and thighs stretched some. Washing it and drying it in the dryer (I know, not suppose to do that if you want great fades, but I don't care about the look as much as having a clean soft pair that fits well.) did shrink the stretch back down to where I started, but wearing it once stretched them again. So I would say overall fits looser than when new, figuring in the stretch and shrink. Tight spots will stretch, and loose spots will not shrink much. Length of the jean shrank about 1-1.5 cm from the washer and dryer cycle, so hem it appropriately. Tellason guys will hem them for you for free.

Just getting a pair of Ladbroke Grove for the lower rise now. The thigh is tighter, so I decided on one size larger and forgo the really tight feel if I had stuck with 32. A jean store told me it would stretch out, but I figure since I am trying the 16.5 oz fabric, might not stretch as much.

Places like Woodland The Woodlands Unionmade UNIONMADE - Tellason and Blueowl https://www.blueowl.us/designer/tellason/ have actual measured sizes.

However, hard to compare across the measurement from different stores since each store measures a little differently. Can compare measurement only from within the stores.

Ordered from Blue Owl, they had 2 pairs in my size and they measured them individually and I chose accordingly, they were also hemmed for my inseam too....... top notch service.

Would it kill one of these companies to publish a rise measurement?

Elgin Mid Rise Slim Tapered blah blah blah...

Mid rise compared to what? Quantify this in inches.

Edit - I see that some retailers are doing this. Nice to see that someone understands this matters so much more than inseam. Why it escapes the manufacturer is beyond me.

I'd order from one of the resellers, who publishes the actual measurements of the clothing, or better, in person. Tellason provides a nominal size with no other information. I find their stuff vanity sized by a size (or so), and their denim doesn't shrink (much) in the waist when washed.

By the way, if you can't try them and if you want a basic comparison for size, Tellason's Ankara and Sheffield sizing in the box and thigh corresponds pretty well to the blatantly cheap rigid Rustler jeans, found at your local K-mart very inexpensively.

The Sheffield cut is a mid-rise, designed to hit just below your waist, and cut for work/commuting by bike. It is roomy, and not aggressively tapered. Size down one if you don't want to have to cinch them down with a belt.

I was surprised that they didn't anchor their belt loops under the waist band, and their rear pockets aren't (hidden) riveted. It isn't a big deal functionally, but those are traditional details I'd expect at their price point (and one of the failure modes of my $12 work pants is a tear at the outside top of the rear pocket). The fabric, and stitching, though, is lovely.

    Cheers,

    Will

What is typically the preferred fabric weight for a *first pair* of Tellason denim pants?
