    Default Balsamic Vinegar Recommendations

My local wine store stocked the real Ariston Balsamic vinegar. Needless to say the wine store owner retired and so no more balsamic vinegar.

What are some good recommendations, as my wife is a vinegar snob.

    Thanks.

Stuart, you need to go visit the Olio2Go showroom not far from you in the Mosaic district in Merrifield. They sell only olive oil and balsamic vinegar and they do tastings if you visit. There's a ton of variety including prices if you're lucky you can try what a $300 250cl aged balsamic tastes like- along with others that you might actually buy. Call ahead as they don't keep normal business hours but they usually are open for a few hours on Saturdays, it's an internet business that has a little storefront. 8400 Hilltop Rd · (703) 876-4666 For the rest of youse not in NOVA, you can check out the website.

nothing to contribute other than I used to walk down the lane w/ a jug and get it filled up from the corner store - and the last two weeks I've been craving a fix like that.
Deschutes is grand and all, but this is one significant downside to not living in a small Italian hill town.

There's a legit "olive oil and vinegar" store that opened downtown a while ago - maybe I should go pony up the cash.

Much thanks Zen for the tip. Mosaic is very close to me. Will have to give that shop a look before the holidays.

I've got no useful sources for you, but my wife and I spent the afternoon at the Museum of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar in Modena learning about and tasting traditional balsamic and it changed my perceptions of vinegar. If you're ever in northern Italia it's well worth the visit.

Plus there are more supercar and historic sportscar museums than you can shake a stick at!

Zen thanks for the Olio2go information. My spousal unit and I went there yesterday and walked out with two ver different dark vinegars and one while balsamic vinegar.
