Shippng a frame to the UK

Has anyone sent a frame to the UK recently? What carrier? Cost? Results favorable or not?

i use fedex and never in a used, recycled box atmo.
fully insured.
never under-insure it or mark it a value lower than the invoice price.
lotta rules where i come from.

In the past year I've UPS'd one and FedEx'd one. Both times in Trico cases. The shipping and insurance was $467 in one case and only slightly less in the other.

Hi Steve,

If its a frame or frameset only, I use the USPS. The box has to be under 108 combined inches (girth+length)....which is generally not a problem with a frame (I use 36 x 27 x 8 inch boxes). The cost is under $100, insured, (Usually about $75) for Priority Mail International. Shipping time is 6-10 days, but I have never had one take 10 days. You can also go Global Express with USPS, which will get it there in just a couple of days, but the cost is over 4 times as much. I have never had a problem with the USPS (knock wood) and the frames have always been delivered in great shape. Just sent one to Japan and the customer said that the box looked like it had never been touched.

If the box is over 108" though, then I use UPS or Fed Ex or DHL. I have had mixed results with all of them. Sometimes great....sometimes terrible. (ie...holes in box & etc)
