Bar tape on a lawn mower

So I'm doing maintenance on my push lawnmower and I'm wondering if anyone sells bar tape in one Long roll rather than two short rolls.

Alternatively, and probably the better option; is there a good way to splice this stuff together without creating a bulge in the middle or a seam to come undone? I have some fizik microtex tape and some deda foam-ish tape laying around. I know it's over the top and anal, but so is a lot of stuff here so I figured I'd ask. lately I spend more time mowing than i do on the bike anyway, so there's that. :-(

If I were you I'd mount a cup/beer holder in the middle of the handle and wrap up to it from each side with a couple rolls of your favorite tape.

Gorilla glue it down, starting the second roll exactly where the first one ends. NFS tape FTW.

Ignore the fact that the handlebar tape you want is too short. Buy what you need and wrap the bars, then OVERWRAP it with something like hockey stick tape. It will hide the splice, you'll still have the padding, and it will look fine. Bonus-you can buy the hockey stick tape in colors and color-coordinate your lawnmower. You'll be the envy of the neighborhood!

This is how I originally wrapped my MTB bar ends and it worked great.

Kevin, yours looks good. Tape looks nice and cushy too.

If I had a tractor and a flat yard, this would be a no-brainer upgrade. I'm rocking a push mower though and my yard is more technical and off-camber than a lot of the trails I ride. Lots of roots and holes to shake up my beer.

I'll try gluing it next time. I taped mine shortly after posting the thread, because I'm impatient like that. Basically, I spliced it together in the middle by overlapping the two pieces, which creates a small lump in the middle; no big deal. After I did it, I realized that since my mower has an "ergo" handle which has a 4 inch section in the middle, i could just overlap that short section = lump gone. The problem now, though, is that since its wrapped the same direction on both sides, if feels different to each hand. Meh. I'll check back in 4 years when I re-tape it

Bar tape comes off the bike, goes onto the mower. Or the shovel (Ontario-worthy sleigh shovel), rake, hoe, or whatever yard-maintenance implement needs to be reminded that it is lower on the totem pole than the bike.

That's the natural progression, which is important to maintain order.

And if that doesn't happen, what do you do with the old bar tape -- just throw it out?

Nierman’s tape job is so nice I’m almost favoring it over rmplum’s oury solution.

But the best solution is todd’s: lose the grass! I shoveled multiple truckloads of rock when my wife re-imagined our yard and now I only have to mow the parking strip. Glorious.

I have 2.5 acres that gets as little care as I can get away with and will ideally be taken over by trees. But we certainly don't artificially water or fertilize it. I don't even pick up the leaves.
