We scheduled a short family trip to Chicago in a few weeks only to find out there are no hotel rooms downtown. Anyone have experience with AirBnB?

I booked a couple of apartments in Spain a month ago and had an excellent experience. Both were true to the description/pictures. My only advice is to go with a host who has a decent number of reviews built up.
I've used it in the US, Canada, and England, all with good results.
Stay with someone who has a review history and all should be well.
It's not the deal it once was in most places, but I still use it occasionally.
My wife and I pretty much exclusively use this. New orleans, chicago, yellow springs, Asheville, Charlotte, chattanooga, Tulsa, and so on. It is the way we travel when not wit our daughter.. Never a bad experience, actually the opposite and totally positive.

We've had good luck for some cross races. We've also had outstanding luck with VRBO.
I used it for a trip out to Tucson this spring. It worked great.
We have used it several times. In addition to vrbo and homeaway, don't hesitate. All my experiences have been positive. Most owners I have dealt with have been very responsive. I just booked airbnb properties for our summer road trip out to Seattle from Florida. Ultimate destination is Fairbanks, Alaska. Have also used it for apartments and flats in Europe. All positive experiences.

I've used it several times at various locations in Canada and the US. It has always been a positive experience for me.
Thanks for the feedback. Looking forward to giving it a try.
Thanks for the thread. I've bookmarked this and another site mentioned since Daughter Jessica is attending Pratt in Brooklyn next year and it might be a nice way to find a spot to stay when we visit.
