It's been time for her to go away for a long time...her comments after losing to Sweden should make that a wrap.

rw saunders
hey, how lucky can one man get.
She knows nothing about History of tactics in Football/ soccer to say the least. Yes.. you can win by playing ugly, by not playing, by playing a defensive game or oportunistic game. The europeans played world cup events in the past against teams w/ a much more talented game... and won w/ boring ugly defensive tactics (Their football now is ultra offensive and beautifull). No one said the winners were cowards then. That's just naive. You win on football by making more goals than the other team.. these are the rules. It's not the bravest players or the happiest or the most acrobactic... it's the team that makes more goals. Deal w/ it.
slow.
Swedens’ coach used to be the US coach, so she knew (in theory) how to beat her old team.
Hope did her “gotta change gloves during a penalty shot” move again, in an attempt to throw sweden off…it didn’t work.
So, she lost “fair and square”…and i think she just threw any american tv commercials out the window by being a poor sport.
What’s worse to me, is the Egyptian judo guy who lost to an Israeli, and refused to shake his hand. Politics, religion, whatever…
If the Olympic Committee had any sack (which they don’t) the whole team should be tossed.
I f’n HATE it when the olympic athletes, from ANY country, use the event to make political statements.
True, that was a sour grapes statement.
But Carli Lloyd wasn't offside on her late header goal.
Nor was the Swedish goal offside, but it was called back.
True but would the swedish goal have occurred if the US goal had been allowed. Unlikely.
Well Lloyd was offside so not relevant.
But it doesn't matter. The issue Is Hope Solo is the a shining example of the worst in sports. She hasn't a clue what grace or sportsmanship mean. She simply should not be on the same field as right thinking people.
Arguing as to whether a goal should have counted or not overshadows the inexcusable behaviour of Solo.
completely without class.
"Sweden dropped off. They didn't want to open play. They didn't want to pass the ball. They didn't want to play great soccer."
No, all they wanted to do was win, which they did. Now shut up.
It's also part of the game. Referees' mistakes happen all the time. It's not unusual to play against the other team and the judge.
I did not watch this particular game (the channels were busy w/ other olympic stuff) but when playing against "ugly" defensive football there is no other way: attack harder till you score or lead them to take chances and counter attack fast before they regroup.
slow.
It does matter. While bad calls are part of the game, it was clearly wrong and it undoubtedly affected solo's reaction. I agree it was an unfortunate reaction but with so much on the line having a bad call affect the game's outcome elicited a strong reaction from an emotional player.
She ruined her commercial prospects right then and there.
No cheerios ads for you mzzz.
