i love that this is getting out. i wouldn't be caught dead at whole foods other than to get hot chick phone numbers. which is as easy as buying peanuts there!

mmmm ... Whole Foods muffins are yummy

Some of the points made in that letter could be applied to any company (the one I work for, included). I won't stop shopping there on occasion.

Yes, they're just another "evil corporation". There's really no other kind. Still, they are my backup to the CSA and serve a purpose for us.

That said, they recently built a second WF in town and it is a horrible, horrible place that I will never set foot in again. They whitewashed the place to better fit in with the anticipated clientele. I'll admit that the most aggravating change was the clientele themselves. Then, the lack of tofu in the prepared food section ruined my entire trip. I rode out of my way to stop there thinking of a nice salad and they ruined both my trip and my lunch. Finally... I expect, nay, demand to pay a young tattooed cashier for my purchases. Presenting me with an old white woman, or in my case, a middle-aged Indian... well, it just spoils the whole hippie illusion and forces me to face the reality that I might be more like the woman who nearly ran me over with her SUV than I'd care to admit.

WF Parmesan Reggiano is great stuff, worth the trip for that alone.

I'll agree with him on the whole pizza thing, though. The pieces have gotten smaller, and it's just not as good as it used to be.

LOL, if yo don't like it, don't work there. Some people just like to snivel. I am thrilled that whole foods has shown up to present a challenge to the old grocery stores and push them to wake up to higher quality foods. I would bet a hand that the quality of the foods people eat on average goes up in communities where whole foods opens. Is it a GREAT place to buy food? Hell no! But not everyone lives where I do and can shop at farmers markets and health food stores exclusively. It is a great alternative to the Shopright and Price Chopper that most people have available.

Oh, and MaineMike, what better reason is there to choose a place to shop than to get phone numbers???

Didn't read the letter, don't care.

All I need to know is I had extremely good potatoes and butter lettuce from there last night. And wine. And bread.

Bastards didn't have tri tip tho.

Worse. I specifically put the medium-tint lenses in my glasses, and some clouds rolled thru, making me kick myself for not going with the low-light specs.

Only read part of the letter. I must say I'm tired of being forced to purchase smaller amounts of sub par products for increasingly higher prices regardless of the shiny or not so shiny building that houses it.

Oh wait! That's why we bust our asses and grow our own food. Including the Angus Cheeseburgers out back.
