I live in PA, and last night 10 or so big trucks w/buckets came down the road and fixed 2 miles of blown out wires, poles, and downed trees.
It was cold, dark, and rainy, and they were in for a tough night.
The big thing? They were from Kentucky, and thank dog they were there. I took the kids out there and we personally thanked a bunch of them.

When my wife worked for CP&L (now Progress Energy) disasters were always crazy times. Down in NC it's hurricanes and ice storms. The company would run shuttles to come get employees to keep things running. The biggest need was for office workers with phone skills to handle calls from frustrated, scared, cold customers who might not get power back for quite some time. Just as not everyone can afford a 10K bike, not everyone can afford a generator that will run for 10 days while power is restored. The logistics of getting things back up is amazing when you see the operation in action.

We were down for two days here in NJ. Back on early this afternoon. Given the storm's destruction and friends with homes under water or bisected by trees, one cannot complain about a couple days without lights and internet.
