    Default Lotion -- follow up to "The Art of Shaving (you legs"

    Folks,

    I'm on a quest: It's dry, dry, dry here and even though I drink a lot of H2O my legs are always ashy.
    I'm sure shaving them doesn't help. I need lotion suggestions.

    So far Eucerin Intensive Repair is the best I've found.

    Nivea just sucks.
    Aveno seems to wear off on my pant legs
    Cetaphil was OK but didnt do as well as Eucerin
    Lubriderm = meh.

    What are you using?

    You don't want a lotion. You want a cream. They are formulated very differently. Try CeraVe moisturizing cream. It lasts through the perspiration of a hot-weather ride, yet you wouldn't know it's on your skin. Doesn't inhibit the ability of your skin to transpire and sweat. Doesn't irritate your eyes or anywhere else if you inadvertently get it there. The big thing is, get a true cream. Lotions actually do a good job of drying your skin further. Buy a 12-ounce tub of CeraVe for about $14-18 (available at Amazon or Target) and you'll be happy.

    BTW, Eucerin has lanolin in it. If you have any allergies to wool, even though Eucerin is commonly considered to be hypoallergenic, lanolin can be the trigger. Few of those allergy patch tests look at wool/lanolin as an allergen, so if you use Eucerin and it doesn't seem to work (or skin seems to get worse) see if your doctor can test for wool/lanolin allergy.

    I use CeraVe Renewing SA cream for hands arms and legs during winter. Works. Sometimes hard to find actually, so I usually order from Amazon.

    I love this place for all the random bits of not direct, but still cycling-related wisdom and product recommendations.
