Default 2017-18 Honda CRV recall “gas smell”

FYI...a friend at work mentioned this issue a few months ago to me and when I called my dealer, they went silent on me. Today, I dropped my wife’s CRV off for an oil change and they asked if they could keep it a while longer for a recall fix...something to do with an AC module. I mentioned to my rep that I brought this “gas smell” issue up last Fall to my salesman and he ducked me. Apparently it’s real and I told my rep that until I receive a formal recall notice, that I prefer to leave the car as is. He told me that the notice will be out soon, primarily in colder climate markets, of which we certainly are in today (2F).

So this is only for the 1.5L turbo engine? They're putting some version of that engine in damn near everything these days...

As far as I can tell. I'll let you know as soon as I receive an official notice.

I've got this engine in my Civic. There's all sorts of discussion online if you want to dig into it. There are forum dudes who ship fuel-smelling oil out to blackstone and other oil analysis labs and they come back showing that the oil is still providing adequate lubrication. So I don't really know what to make of it all. My car has been fine - but I live in Texas and regularly make long enough trips.

We bought our Accord at just the right time...when the standard small engine was an N/A 2.4L. Zero complaints. This move towards smaller turbo engines...I don't like it.
