Once over the snowblower with NFS.
Once over the snowblower with NFS.
I installed new skids on mine three weeks ago and it's been a busy beaver ever since.

hey, how lucky can one man get.
Seriously, did the weather people make up this term for sensational headlines? I hate to sound old, but when I was a kid it was "it's going to snow this week" and i'd be happy to have a day off of school and make some money shoveling old lady's driveways. These days there is a bomb cyclone and we are in a state of emergency. lol.
But yes, i'm going to start my blower after work today and make sure everything is running as expected. good call.
I think they like how it sounds because an extratropical cyclonic low-pressure area just is too hard for most people. Technically, as long as the pressure drops 24 millibar in 24 hours, it counts. Although technically, the amount of atmospheric pressure drops varies with latitude. The farther north, the greater the drop needed to count I believe.
Ye Olde Tecumseh kicked over on the first pull... after I flushed the carb with WD40.
I guess Sta-Bil only goes so far, not that I'm complaining.
I didn't pull out the machine for the first and only meaningful snowfall a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not taking chances for this one.
Bring it!
Pumped up the tires, too. Used the SKS with the dual presta/shraeder head, on permanent garage duty for kid bikes and the snowblower.
The term has been in use by meteorologists for much longer than the media. I don't think the media realized that people like to read about weather until the 2000s. When I was a geeky weather obsessed kid in upstate NY, you had to turn to page C7 in the NYT to read anything about a fully formed hurricane in the Caribbean; now if there's a chance of one forming in the next week off the coast of Africa it's big news. Weather generates clicks, especially now that it's politicized.
I decree that the terms "arctic blast" and "'feels like' temperature" be banished forever.
Yes. We know. It gets cold in the winter in New England. Yes. We know. If the wind is blowing, that makes it feel colder.
When did simple weather reporting get so hysterical?
We name our snowstorms. DC gets hysterical if there is as much as a dusting.

A Snow Shovel With Spring Benefits
"I want to tell you about the new snow shovel I got this year and how much I love it.
It’s a double-handled shovel sleigh that you don’t have to lift, it glides over snow so you can move and dump heavy loads easily. It’s called a sleigh shovel for the shape of its bottom that slides across snow like a sled, instead of throwing shovels full of heavy snow as you clear pathways.
Why am I telling you about a snow shovel in a garden report? Because I used mine to move many mini mountains of snow all the way across my lawn and put snow next to plants that want the water, such as trees that enjoy extra moisture, like my Bald Cypress, and shrubs I planted just last fall, which will benefit from the extra snow melt this spring.
With this handy shovel sleigh, I cleared the drive umpteen times this winter, spared my back, and was easily able to place loads of snow all around my garden, exactly where it can do the most good as it melts."
Sell your snowblower.

In Syracuse, we refer to a big storm like this as "Thursday." Or sometimes Friday, Saturday, etc. depending on which day of the week it falls on. We don't stock up on bread or milk, but we may grab another six pack or bottle of wine. A storm like this may add 5 minutes to my commute.

Old age and treachery beat youth and enthusiasm every time…
Just to pile on. When I was driving school bus in MN...I show up to work on morning and there is a snow plow on my bus. Surely this is a mistake? LOL Apparently, it was for plowing IN to kids streets. BTW Let me tell you, school buses have great traction in snow. This fact will not ever help you answer a Jepoardy question.

The last snow came when I was away, and I texted a tenant to explain how to work the tractor. He did a decent job. 33 horses and a six foot blower goes a long way.
I like my old aluminum shovels for the small stuff.
