So mu trusty razor is coming to the end of its life. Was online checking reviews etc. The new Panosonic top of the line razor is $599. WTF? Seriously? 6 bills for a razor? The hunt will obviously continue

I've used a mid level Braun for years. I replace the cutting head once a year and let the battery run all the way dead a few times a year, does a nice job and was under $200.

I bought a safety razor at the flea market for $5, merkur blades are cheap and last a long time. I shaved with this every few days fo about nine years until I got lazy.
old school safety razor ftw atmo
i've been dicking around with electrics for years
aint nothin but a waste of time and metal
I use one to shave my head in-between razor shaves. I use a higher end norelco triple head razor, 65.00 to 75.00 on eBay. It works pretty good and it gives a pretty close shave for electric, but is a little bit of a PITA to clean. Overall I'm happy with it.

FWIW I can't use blades. While some might think electrics are a waste, a blade is like a cheese grader to my skin

20 dollar Braun M-60, 2xAA batteries (no cord, no "how much charge is left?"), cheaper to throw it out after a year* and buy a new one than to replace the heads and foil. Runs about 2 months on alkalines, 4 months on lithiums. Caveat - you really have to use it twice a day for decent results.

Are we talking legs or faces here?
I'm with ya. Cant' use blades of any sort on my face or my skin screams for days. Tried multiple approaches and attempted to let my skin adjust. No success.
So, I've ended up with electric and of all the ones I've tried (including Braun, Norelco, and Panasonic is my favorite. Look a the models beneath the top-of-the-line and you'll hit a sweet spot of price and performance. I'm using the Panasonic ES-LV81-K.
My latest is a Panasonic, but it wasn't anywhere close to that sort of price, think I paid around a C-note. First time I fired it up and compared it to the Remington I had it was like comparing a weed-eater to a turbine.
