    Default Pipe Dream

By now a few of you would have seen this. I try not to post non frame building stuff on here but this needs to be shared. While I'm unsure how I feel about motorbikes in the line up Robbie Maddison didn't just take it to the next level, he has obliterated it. I only saw half track moto's the other day and thought "yeah, that's obvious but so cool". This is just something else. I can't help but wonder what inspires such audacious ideas. Anyway....

That's crazy. but so cool one can almost forgive the thrashing he's giving to the forest.

And the thrashing he gave to that lineup? I hope everyone who'd paddled out that day was in on this stunt.
Doesn't look like he can turn that thing in the water. What happens when he misses a wave- does the bike sink and land on the reef, or does he just have to gun it for shore and start over? I doubt you can duck dive one of those.

I think he can turn it, but on a VERY big radius.

So I should have seen it coming given the title, but as soon as I saw the first wave, I thought "no F'in way." Then he did it. Ballsy, to say the least.

Apparently in testing he rode out into Mission Bay turned it around and went back to shore. Yes I don't think it turns on a dime and there is obviously a 'stall' speed where the plane doesn't offset the lack of buoyancy. They went to a 250 as the rebuild after each submerging is a lot less hassle. He also nearly bought the farm on one wave in Tahiti. He is not a normal human being.

I so wanted that last wave to completely cream him.

It's not bad enough that I have to put up with yahoos on JetSkis blasting around every lake I've ever rowed on. Now I have to put up with some guy on a dirtbike, probably jacked up on Red Bull, terrorizing tropical beaches?

I will be in my quiet cave...

I honestly don't see this becoming a popular thing. Given that every time you dunk the bike it will need a rebuild. I'm sure you'll see a few copycats for a little while then it will fade away.

My initial thought when he passed the young lady chilling on the SUP was, "that's just gross". Everyone else is there enjoying the beauty and power of nature and here comes the asshat with a loud smelly dirt bike ruining everyone's peaceful time with nature. By the end, I was literally nauseated. I'd be furious if I was in Tahiti on a hopefully relaxing vacation and some numbskull showed up with one of those.

Please let this not be a commonplace activity.

I grew up with motocross bikes and still love them, but I'm with the grump crew on this one. I can only find references to the sled and the back tire as modifications. No word on what the fluids in that bike do when he gets dunked. Dirt bikes run dirty--maybe a rainbow trail on the water's surface in wicked slo mo?
