    Default Minimal sole dress shoes.

I'm looking for some shoes with as little sole as possible, or at least without a big fat heel. The typical dress shoe heel does a number on my back, but I've been having a hard time finding something without the heel that looks presentable. It doesn't need to be terribly formal - work is casual slacks and dress shirts most days. Suggestions?

I wear Quoddy bluchers to work a couple times a week. Not supper formal, but they look like grownup shoes. Minimal heel height.

So long as the heels are typical stacked leather, any shoe repair place can lower them for you. Should be way cheap, too.

This. Should be ~$20 to modify.

Otherwise, maybe the Allen Edmonds Patriot (can't tell stack height), the Eastland MADE in US shoes look good, as do Quoddy (possibly made in the same factory).

depends on how casual you can go, but when my work attire was "business casual" way back when, i really liked my leather clarks....

Since discovering a good bit back pain was caused by my daily work shoes I also looked for a minimal heal work shoe. I wear the aforementioned Clarks as well as some slip on drivers.

You've likely found this guy already, if not... http://www.facebook.com/thePrimalProfessional he's working on making a dress shoe that will check your boxes.

Thanks for the replies - I see lots of great choices. This is one of those times where real people still bear the hell out of google.

Vivobarefoot makes some minimalist dress shoes. Still a bit on the casual side, but may provide a useful alternative.

Camper's are made in Barcelona and have that slim sole you're looking for. Try this model called the Pau. And the link is here too:18723-004_L.jpg

The thin sole is something I'm interested in but the most important thing is that the shoe not have an elevated heel. The heel on those could likely be modified but I would prefer to find something I don't have to mod.

Not real cheap, but for $100 you can have the truly minimalist Softstar Run-a-Mocs with Vibram soles in your choice of colours, handmade in Oregon USA.
