    Default Yuzen (making kimono fabric)

This is at the other end of the manliness spectrum from Viking sword-making, but pretty cool:

Fantastic link. Thanks. Mom used to make Chuppas ( Chuppah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) used in Jewish weddings. Her's shared some techniques and infinitely less complicated. Patience runs in the family ;)
Have you seen the silk weavings created using notched fingernails are equally intricate and esoteric. I think this is a dying or lost tradition. If you are interested in these things there is an odd museum in Washington DC "The Textile Museum" :: Textile Museum :: and you'll find some of this there. Also, the Smithsonian at their Freer Gallery is a must see.
Dang you made me blather on yah know? ha!
