My neighbor found this chair at a thrift store. The design is genius. Does the design have a name?

They're called "folding sling chairs" although that chair may not fold, making it just a sling chair. If you want to know what specific brand it is, I can't help there. That DOES look like it's a step above the garden variety folding sling chair because of the stout, oak/teak construction.

Yep, can be DIY. I have a pair that a friend made for me out of old hockey sticks.
