I'm with you. It's getting increasingly ugly. There are no winners.

As long as the media keeps pushing it’s NEGATIVE TRUMP AT ALL COST ALL THE TIME EVEN IF THE FACTS DON”T FIT news, this is what we’ll be getting for the remainder of his term.

The “resistance” isn’t serving our country very well. Neither do Trumps Tweets...

It does seem like a lot of negativity toward Trump. Perhaps it's because it's difficult to find the positives. I'm still searching. Desperately.

This low-brow, she said, he said is what we'll get for the remainder of his term.

^^^This. Saw a report today claiming that the media's coverage of Trump is more negative than that of any previous president. Gee, what a surprise! Perhaps if he would stop doing such negative things, the press would report fewer negative things. Give them something to go on at least...

Did the art and culture of Diplomacy leave the room? What happened to long drawn out endless talks? That works.

I realize this subject is not easy to broach without naming names. Would it be possible to do that using civilty, a most cherished human ability lacking today?
    Thank you

On the technical side, the US doesn't deploy tactical nuclear weapons anymore. During the Cold War, we had all kinds of tactical nukes deployed on carriers, battlefield stuff, submarine launched cruise missiles, etc. Then we put it all away and went all deterrent all the time. The media and even the POTUS talk about the US having nuclear subs in theater for NK. The US always has a strategic deterrent sub or two in the Pacific, strategic deterrent is for shooting back with no regard to limited strikes, it's all out end of the world stuff. The missiles have multiple nuclear warheads, they're all going somewhere. The other subs in the western pacific are fast attacks and maybe an SSGN which carries a metric shit-tonne of tomahawks and maybe a SEAL team. The tomahawks aren't nuclear. B-52's deployed with nuke cruise missiles would be the retaliatory or first strike when you're not trying to end the human race.

But it's all bullshit, the pilots aren't being recalled and the planes are staying in their current status. If not, see above.

The order to go on alert has not been given. Preparations for quickly responding to such an order are being made. WaPo: The Air Force hasn’t used nuclear ‘alert pads’ since the Cold War. Now they’re being upgraded.

What is "The Media"? The president's biggest apologists and supporters are Rupert Murdoch's Fox "News" channel talking faces. They keep telling us that they're America's number one news network, America's favorite news network, etc. They can't broadcast a critical word so I don't know who this "media" is that Trump's supporters keep whining about. The biggest news channel in the US is basically his propaganda channel.

The president would like nothing more than to wipe out the First Amendment. He's basically said as much. As long as the coverage is critical it's somehow bad? That's not how it works in a democratic republic with free speech as a cornerstone of the constitution.

Noted that Twitter, Facebook, et al are also "the media" at this point.

Yes. The media is not a monolithic power made of singular ideas dictated by a secret cabal. Whenever someone calls "the media" i ask "Which media outlet"?
Social paranoia is a usefull tool so spreading the notion of a "negative media" is mostly part of a strategy.
The role of newspapers is to be an independent voice of criticsm. Deal w/it.

Saab, I question the same thing.
I keep hearing 'the mainstream media is fake news' yet 'non-mainstream media (whatever that means) has the facts'.
Mainstream is defined by the ideas, attitudes, or activities that are regarded as normal or conventional; the dominant trend in opinion, fashion, or the arts.
If one channel is proclaiming the 'most watched'; wouldn't it be mainstream?

I feel this confusion is the preferred MO of the current president and supporters to keep us all guessing because they don't have a clear direction. It's like checking wind direction in a tornado.
