    Default Vinyl Records: Heavy Rotation

    What are you spinning?

Thanks to Vsalon we now have a terrific analog setup. We have unearthed our combined collection, in perfect order, from 20+ years ago and having a ball.

This thread is for saying what vinyl records you are listening to and maybe exchange some clues.

Today's workout: 4000 meters on C2 + 3 mile tempo run and Zappa's Hot Rats (cranked) - His Jazz is pure genius

Exile on Main Street- French pressing.
Neil Young- Tonight's the Night- walked in looking for it and actually found it
    D'Angelo- Black Messiah

I consider all 3 of these to be perfect albums.

It is... Sort of. Mine is one of the Analogue Productions reissues, which are all outstanding and highly recommended.

What's the cartridge on that rig, boyo?

I pulled out REM a few nights ago. Started with Chronic Town and I'm halfway into Fables of the Reconstruction at this point.

It is fun to listen to music I know so, so well, and haven't heard in so, so long.

Rega Cartridge that came setup with the beast. I'm happy. The Klipsch are happy. The neighbors can't hear anything due to a massive concrete foundation between me and them.
Heck, it's a party goin' right here....

Lemme know when you want some advice from me and Gee about what comes next.

This setup finally sounds yummy most all the time, but I still wonder how much better the next model up woulda been:

I will do just that DavidS. For now this setup is blowing the doors off the place.
Badonkerdonker - Kilpsch Heresy. I've had them for a loooooong time, still in great condition. Also have a lovely set of Belles not doing much of anything (Main's for hometheater) that need to be used with the turntable...which will require a reconfiguration of Casa TT anex. The Belles are huge.

It's an Ortofon 2M Blue. I like it a lot, although it nearly exhausted me during the break-in period, before the piercing mid-high bump decided to settle down. I ended up shimming the Rega RB-300 tonearm to get to a more perfect VTA. That really helped. Everything else has been pretty damn swell from the get-go - bass, soundstage, dynamics, detail. I equivocated over spending the extra $$ on a Bronze (several people who've weighed in on this thread told me to...) and kinda wish I did.

By the way, the record in the photo is Big Star's Radio City. I watched their movie bio last night and immediately needed to hear all three of their records. I must say: Radio City is a perfect record - the tug and tension between structure and chaos is incredible, exhilarating, and deeply statisfying. If you do not have this record get it now.

Next up will be Meat Puppets II. Because Garro.
