    Default NASA's hovering lander

OK, it's getting a bit high-tech for what the forum is normally about, but this stuff is pretty darn close to hand-made, custom, one-off territory. And it's waaaaayyyy cool.

NASA's hovering lander looked beautiful at yesterday's test-launch

OUTSTANDING. Buck Rodgers would be proud. The image is curiously addictive.

Somewhat similar to the Curiosity Rover's rocket stabilizing/cable drop onto the Martian surface.

That image *is* amazing, isn't it? The SpaceX rocket was probably more impressive in its ability to maneuver, but the NASA image is more gorgeous than all the sci-fi movies put together.

Always good to have folks pushing each other. This hexacopter shot of the SpaceX grasshopper does it for me. Check out 1:00 minute. Pretty sure NASA would never allow a unmanned craft that close to a test flight.
The aerial footage from the latest Grasshopper test launch is super badass

Can be found in the soil and groundwater today. DNAPL - dense non-aqueous phase liquid. A sinker. Back in the day they just discharged solvents and the like anywhere to make it disappear. Ponds, lagoons, swales, fire training pits etc.

God Bless em' cause it keeps me busy today.
