Default The Art of Wardrobe Endorsement- Swiftwick Socks

So you forgot about your friend's birthday party after work. Your company takes care of all your dry cleaning; and the clothes you wore into the office, before suiting up, are not going to cut it. Missing the party isn't an option because Luis and Tere (who's birthday it is) are the kind of friends who call you 10 times a day, and beg you and the dog to stay at their place during the hurricane. They worry about you. You're going to their raw food restaurant, Rockin Raw, in Billyburg. You're wearing the suit you have on. You're going to be "that guy." Besides, there will be girls there. Vegan girls, but girls.

So you go. You drink beer and politely refuse the uncooked food because of your weird hangups. You do eat a slice of the raw birthday cake when you'd prefer the raw mounds- the ones you ate when you thought you could date that vegan girl- because the level of genius on that shit is nutzoid. You chat, have fun, play with their dog (who can run around the restaurant because Tere's hippie doctor totally had it registered as a service animal when she broke her foot.)

You walk home in the rain. You're soaked. You remember your dry cleaning won't be back tomorrow.
You hang the suit to dry, stuff the shoes with newspaper, and hope for the best.

In the morning, you shove a hand down your shoes to find the insides still damp. What do you do?

You grab the dark gray pair of Swiftwick winter socks that your friend Clark at Victory Bicycle Studio gave you the last time you were home. You go to work. No one notices a wet shoe smell becuase your feet are dry and that miracle fabric can TCB. And no one- except the bike messenger in line at Chipotle, who gives you a knowing nod- notices the white "W" on your ankles.

Swiftwick has replaced SmartWool as my high-tech sock supplier.
They are truly top-notch socks, are sleek, and fit just perfectly. Enjoy.

I'm a sock guy and I have plenty, but I'll search these out and buy a pair anyway.

Great story (or was that marketing?).

My ECJ Swiftwicks are the first thing I grab for the bike. I grab them sometimes to wear with street wear as long as I'm not wearing shorts. Best socks I've worn, ever. 2nd best might be the Rapha merino wool ones - those are pretty damn perfect except for I want some more height.

I've recently moved on from Swiftwick to Save Our Sole. A couple years ago, I bought all the Swiftwicks we had in size L. I've got a bunch of the 1" cuff and 4" cuff versions that are "new with tag." if someone would like to try them, I'll send you a pair if you cover shipping. Bk, wh, and grey.

Most durable sock I've ever used. I just don't like how soggy they end up feeling. Your feet stay dry, but the socks seem to not want to dry out.

    I'm referring to Olefin version.

They're right down the street from the bike shop I work at for parts, and the guy who founded the company designed our logo and team kit (and the W). Friends still have fully functional merino wool Wickware socks from before they changed their name (years ago).

They really can't be beat. In the Nashville/Mid TN area cycling community if you aren't wearing Swiftwick, you probably just moved here.

New favorites: 12 inch Olefin Aspire graduated compression socks. Hosiery for men. That's what they are.

Merino Merino Merino! I got a bunch of these for free (10 pair of 2" cuff which I don't think they made after that) in 2005 at Interbike as promo for the bike company I was there with.

I bought more when I got home so I could throw out every other sock I owned. I ride in them, run in them, and work/walk around in them and I couldn't be happier.

I've been wearing the same 20 pair for 6 years now with only one casualty early on. I learned that you can't yank them on or the internal stitching on the cuff can give way. Last year I was looking for some taller socks and saw that they had changed their name from Wickwear to Swiftwick at some point. Sucks paying retail now but I did it w/o hesitation. These folks were great.

I gave their Olefin socks a try but I found the comfort of wool to be super luxe. I'm a total Merino convert. After many years of machine washings and dryings the only sign of wear is some very light pilling. These have not lost any of their elasticity at all.

I'm wearing ECJ swiftwick socks right now, but I much prefer these: Mad Alchemy Embrocation

My biggest gripe with the Swiftwick is that they are too rigid (if that makes sense) and tend to slide down much quicker than other similarly styled socks. They then need to be washed and sent through the drier before they're tight again.

Sponsor plug - if you're in Boston, Canton Velo just got a shipment of Swiftwick merinos and compression socks. I just put my first pair of merinos on and oh yeah, so comfy. I'll be racing CX in them at Plymouth tomorrow.

Love the Swiftwick socks. I have been using them for about 2 years especially the Vision (84% Nylon / 13% Olefin / 3% Spandex) compression ones.

Also got some of the merino wool PURSUIT Business Eight (58% Merino Wool / 34% Nylon / 8% Spandex) for dress pants/shoes and really like them as well.

I love my Swiftwicks! Cycling socks are pretty much the only socks I wear and Swiftwick is a big percentage of my collection.

I also have Sock Guy, DeFeet, Castelli, Giro.
