If you want an exhaustive run-down of all the features, check out arstechnica.com for Siracusa's review.
I am normally a rapid upgrader on these updates but I am going to wait a litle bit on this one.
The Snow Leopard upgrade broke a couple of apps that I use heavily. They were fixed, but for a little while I had to find workarounds. The issue of Ascent not being able to work with my Garmin was inconvenient, the issue of Snow Leopard deciding it no longer wanted to recognize my ScanSnap scanner was a lot more than inconvenient.
Waiting for the .1 version is usually a good move, as it gives everyone a chance to iron out some bugs.
I'm not upgrading any of my current Macs, but have ordered a 13" MacBook Air which comes with Lion installed. If Lion plays nicely with the apps I install on the MBA, I'll upgrade the rest of the machines. If not, I'll wait at least until the .1 version and compatible versions of the finicky softwares.
so far no crashes.
also.... ive noticed nothing new
I'm going to give it a shot tonight. Wondering if it will play nicely with my audio programs. . .
Gadgetbox - Mac OS X Lion: Yes, it's worth the upgrade
a quick writeup on the new features. please try them out and report back. we are contemplating making the upgrade.
I've been on it for about 24 hours. Some odd nuances that can be tweaked. No crashes, no noticeable slowness or issues. Its a cheap upgrade which some nice features built in. I like where this is going. Google Chrome is the only app that is acting a little different than other apps - there will probably be a few updates coming out from 3rd party applications.
Cool features, but exactly all of my work programs no longer work. We use some older versions for particular reasons, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I might end up un-Lioning, which is a shame.
Setting up a dual boot machine is certainly less work than reverting to Snow Leopard.
Worth it for the updated mail.app and under-the-hood security improvements, with the caveat that you might need to wait for updates to critical software.
Mac OS X 10.7 Lion: the Ars Technica review
Bro just upgraded to it. Cant use Microsoft Office.
Really buggy with Adobe stuff b/c Apple and Adobe are trying to figure out who can piss farther.

I don't understand why Apple just doesn't buy Adobe.
So far no problems. For some reason I can't handle the reverse scrolling. On my iPhone it seems intuitive to push the screen in the direction I want but not so with a track pad or mouse. Luckily you can turn it off. Launchpad, full screen apps, mission control are all very nice and easy to use. I also like all the multiple touch gestures. For 30 bucks is worth it.
ok firefox has crashed about 20x so far
safari is ok
downloaded lion day of release. biggest computing mistake i ever made. has turned me into a devout apple hater, and a pc and google devotee. i honestly can't wait for apple to become the next microsoft (don't know when it will happen, but it WILL happen). long story short, lion somehow resulted in a hard disk failure. bought an apple computer because i was led to believe the premium i was paying would get me superior hardware, superior software and a superior customer experience. well, the hardware has failed, the software has failed and the whole customer experience thing is failing in a big way. fwiw, i had probably 10 or so pc's prior to getting an apple, all of which worked flawlessly, except for 1 hard drive failure about 2 years into owning the thing.
did i mention i despise apple? my take: apple is like a supermodel. all nice and pretty on the outside and it's hard to resist the urge to touch and feel and play with; once you do, however, you realize it aint all that. next time around i'll know to go with function, not form.
i have resolved never to give another penny to apple's already bloated coffers. no way am i going to ever again subsidize the hype, the marketing budget and all those annoying too-cool-by-half apple employees whose job it is, i am convinced, to pull the proverbial wool over peoples' eyes.
rant over.
