    Default slip-on sneakers: Vans and ... ?

I'm inspired to add slip-ons to my sneaker arsenal. Current lineup includes adidas adi-ease and Converse All-Stars, while the wife and daughters are all Vans fans. Any other brands I should look at?

Slip-ons for me begin and end with Vans. The classic.

I literally posted an hour ago about a pr of Seavees being delivered to me today. Mine are replacing some white low-top Chuck Taylors that I treated very poorly for a number of years, and thus are lace-ups, but they have lots of Vans style slips too.
No idea on quality yet, but they look nice.

Yeah, I'll have to second the Vans. I heave a set of the low top lace ups, but they got laced up kinda loose the first time and they're slip ons now.

I've tried others, and nothing compares to the Vans. As odd as that seems. The most recent pair I tossed out were 4yrs old, and only got tossed because they were this weird mix of pink and red, and had holes. I've never worn shoes so long that they developed holes.

The answer is Vans. Slip-ons in checkerboard for those beachy kind of days. Or plaid if you think you can rock 'em. Authentics, one in each color tied loosely as Eric describes for every other day of the week. Get a pair in all black for formal occasions. Maybe add in a pair of Eras or Old Skools for when you need more foot/ankle coverage; tied loosely enough they can be slip ons too. You can then commence tossing all your other shoes. I may be biased as my feet have molded to the shape of the Vans footbed basically spoiling me for any other shoes for the rest of my life.

The gap in the upper right was left by some recently tossed checkerboard slip-ons. Note that every pair of Authentics is tied and stays that way.

I recently picked up a pair of Puma Grimme from the bay. A nice black and gray two tone. Looks to be a past year model.

John Varvatos did a line of Converse All-Stars, and though I am skeptical when the fashion world mates with the symbols of my teenage rebellion, I bought a pair of the lace ups. And they are very well made, much better made than the average everyday Converse, and a lot more comfortable. I tried the slip-ons too, and I liked them a lot, but I bought the lace ups because that was what I used to have. Probably means I'll get the slip-ons if I run into them again. Appropriately slouchy, Joey Ramone-y, and look good with skinny jeans and a leather jacket (preferably racing motorcycle fit with curved arms, tight around the chest, etc.)

edit: These look like lace ups, but the tongue is attached to the upper with a nice solid band of elastic, like the stuff they use in a Chelsea boot. Not going to fly off your feet.

Thanks for all of the replies so far.

robin3mj, your Seavees reminded me to start this thread.

Thanks for posting these, hit my sweet spot and I likely would never have known of their existence otherwise!

Since the only possible answer is Vans, I'll be making sure my future mini-me gets the right start.

Converse Jack Purcell slip one if you can find them. I bought every pair I could find available in my size of the Made in the USA model before production went overseas.
