My dad was raised in Alabama. He grew up in a small town outside Montgomery. I was indoctrinated at a young age and grew up watching the Iron Bowl with my grandparents. I don't respect the University of Alabama as a program per se but I like Nick Saban and I think the Tide play a close-to-perfect game of college football. Any coach who preached to his team to "act like they've been there before" when celebrating in the end zone commands my respect; even though I never watched Bear Bryant coach I consider myself a fan. But everything from the numbers on their helmets to running between the tackles to winning with usually a good but not great QB to a precedence on defense and fundamentals — I love to watch Alabama play football. In local vernacular if Alabama were a bicycle frame it would be TIG welded steel which Saban's boys ride through a carbon fiber league.
