Help with a gift - milk frother

My new(ish) brother in law is a coffee guy, but not as hardcore a coffee guy as many here.

I know nothing about coffee.

My sister mentioned he wants a milk frother, was thinking about getting him one for Christmas. Which one do y'all recommend, without breaking the bank?

Aero Latte...about $20...I bet that ours is 15-20 years old and it still does the job.

If you get him the Aerolatte wand (my wife's recommendation) then also get him a nice milk pitcher. The Bialetti pitcher can go directly on an electric or induction stove and is available in three sizes. 75cl is probably big enough for one person. You heat the milk on the stove and get it to frothing temp so you can beat the fats and proteins into submission. A nice pitcher is the yang to the frothing wand's ying.

My suggestion is one of the Capresso auto-frothers. We had this one but forgot it on a trip and haven't replaced it. Pour in the milk, hit the button and done. Great foam, nice and warm, etc. I'm not usually about using auto stuff, but this allowed me to drink my first espresso in peace while making a cappuccino for my wife.

Actually 75cl is big. 30cl is probably about right.

I'm too late, I know but...... I've found that you can make good froth for free if you already own a french press. I heat up some milk in the glass container and use the press to pump air into the milk. It's surprisingly good, easy and didn't necessitate buying another piece of gear.

UPDATE :: The aerolatte was a hit, he was stoked to get it. A friend of his has one and he had used it the day before haha.
