Default Tomatoes and other home grown goodies

The tomatoes and basil are killing it this year. What are you folks growing and how’s the harvest?

Any tomatos I grow here get a mockingbird beak at the first sign or orange.
So, it is not like when I lived in Northern California. Too bad.
I miss the home grown tomatos. The decorations in the store are not even amusing.
But, the basil is doing great.
The spring crop of tepins is small but better than last year. (No spring crop last year)
Let me know if you want a few.
I think they might not get enough heat in the burgh, but you never know.
They act like pirenials, not annuals.

The only thing better than a good producing garden is having a good friend with one!!!. Tomatoes did well this year and his marijuana (legal since July 1) is thick and sticky.

Word of warning about eating too many raw tomatoes: I was living large and eating at least 1 sandwich a day with thick, fresh tomato slices. Also throwing down a few cherry tomatoes every day. After about 2 weeks I noticed that I started to reek with B.O. Changing deodorant didn't help and often I could still smell myself coming out of the shower. It was bad. The only thing that had changed in my life was the tomatoes. Googled "Tomatoes Body Odor" an suer enough it can make you reek. Gave up the fresh tomatoes and slowly returned to normal.

The peppers are starting to ripen, I'll send a few to the Brave who request them :>). Yellow 7 Pod's and Chocolate Scorpions. Make quite a Salsa with the Tasty looking tomatoes.

I had an over abundance of heirloom tomatoes this year but with all the rain had lots of blemished ones.
I would cut them in half and throw them in pottery casserole dishes, some smoked salt and roast for about 1.5 hours.
Made pasta sauce, stewed and just hot packed some. About 50 pints in all. The mara sauce turned out great and the stewed are for mac and cheese topping.
