Default The Art of shaving your legs

Birds do it bees do it even emasculated killer Bs do it.

Is there ANY electric razor worth a hoot? I'm guessing there really isn't or we'd all be using it. The only method I've ever used are single use disposables and shaving lotion such as kiss my face. It works, it's not bad but I think that these double bladed jobs are responsible for razor burn no matter how patience I am.

I have been wondering about using a safety razor.
Im using the Gilette Mach whatever and it gets expensive.
Seems like the knees are the area that I always get razor burn on.

I've just given up on shaving in the last month or so - I was just spending too much time and effort trying to do things right (fresh blades every time, a daily exfoliation and moisturising routine) and STILL getting too many in-growns and razor burn. I have a set of Wahl clippers I was just using on my head and have started doing my legs with it too, keeping everything trimmed down to a couple of millimeters. It isn't the same, no, but I'm finding it a happy compromise.

I just use a set of cheap clippers, since it's not like i'm getting frequent massages or anything anymore.

    waxing is heaps better.

I use a safety razor. It gets close enough that I can stay pretty clean for a week at a time. No razor burn if you do it properly. I wipe down my legs with a warm washcloth, lather up with Proraso, shave with a fresh blade each time, and throw on some Malin+Goetz Neroli lotion afterwards. Haven't had an ingrown hair to speak of, nor razor burn. Be patient, stay clean, you shouldn't have any issues.

    Pair of hair clippers.

Start off with a comb if you wish, but after you do a pass without a comb (and no irritation) only takes about 4 minutes with a razor after that.

I usually use a Philips Body Groomer on my legs. Once a week is usually good enough and I don't get razor burn (or every 5 days is even better). If I use my 8-bladed razor, I get major burn all over the back of my legs, probably from carelessness. Depends how smooth I want to get.

This is pretty much my (resurrected as of three weeks ago) routine. Merkur 180 razor, Merkur HD or Feather blades (6-8 face shaves, then they go in the leg pile), Proraso Aloe in the white jar. 2x per week seems more than sufficient.

I've tried the lady disposables (easy, but not as close/lasting) and both mild and aggressive double edged safety razor. Nowadays I actually prefer the aggressive DE setup.

    Main keys for me:
    - Shave after shower.
    - Create a good lather, with some proper shaving soap (I prefer something with tallow in it).
    - Shave against the grain for lower legs and areas than don't have delicate areas prone to razor burn.
    - For burn prone areas go with the grain.
    - Do one area at the time to make sure the lather doesn't start drying.
    - Apply alum afterwards, leave it on until you can start feel the skin pulling, then wash off with cold water.
    - Apply lotion.

When I get lazy in the winter and don't shave I whack off the long hairs with an electrical.

There is no art to shaving your legs. Hack away. It don't need to be pretty.

The art is in shaving her legs.
    Walk in.
Sit on the edge of the tub.
    Roll up sleeves.
    Grab razor.
    Grab ankle.
Try not to let ash fall off your cigarette as it dangles from your lips.

    Bisoux.

Shaving someone else's legs won't work in the shower. Your ass with knock over every goddambed bottle she's left delicately perched in there. Hours- maybe days- later, a neighbor will alert the authorities that, other than the flooding, its been too quiet over at your place.

2). Anne is a frequent and thoughtful contributor. I am sure there are others too, but she springs immediately to mind.

It;s good to see we have reached into the Jr High demographics.
There are quite a few women who are members of this forum and everyone of them has great insight and experience

this thread doesn't need women contributing because by nature shaving for them is not as difficult as it is with men since our hair is generally more coarse and thick.
none of that to say they don't also get burns, nicks, and IGHs, but for guys who; race, get massage work, crash and care about their appearances this is important.
we share tips and tricks about shaving our face, why not our legs.

if a topic/thread is too risque for you...don't contribute.

now, i'm off to wax my crack.

I do not think that any electrical razor will work. I use my regular Gillette 3 blades. Takes 5 minutes, after the shower. Have not had hairs on my legs for 20 years and can't stand it when it grows back. But I am not prone to razor burns.

I went to a waxing party some of the girls on my college team threw. I made it all of the front of one thigh before my "fuck this" tantrum. Birthing babies is kind of mandatory. But waxing and putting up with our shit... They do those by choice. I think they're sick.
